Top 10 Beaches in Corfu, Ionian Islands

April 5, 2022 Franklyn Hardiman

Corfu is studded with whitewashed houses, Byzantine churches, and the remains of Venetian fortresses and Greek temples. Wander the ancient streets of the Roman village of Kassiopi or explore the central Esplanade of the eponymous Corfu Town. For a DIY spa experience, lather yourself in mineral mud on the shore of the Canal D’Amour. Legend has it that the waterfalls of Nymphes used to attract the mythological beauties of the same name, who would flock to the village to bathe in the pristine waters.

Mirtiotissa Beach

An amazing place and well worth the trip. The last kilometre is a bit of a nightmare so check your brakes work ! It's a nudist beach but plenty of people leave their swimwear on. We didn't and now have beautiful all over tans. You're not seeing a picture though you cheeky readers. There is a lovely lady called Amelia who rents out sunbeds for just 3 euros each and a parasol for another 2 . Very reasonable. She also serves drinks and an ice cold beer or wine is only 2.50. She is a lovely friendly lady and doesn't take advantage of her monopoly but charging a fortune. The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and we came here 4 times. Make that visited 4 times. ...!!! It's a little corner of heaven. Make sure you leave only footprints and take only photos. Although be careful when pointing your camera ... some people might not want pics of their bits taking! Thank you corfu. Now I'd better put some after sun on my bumcheeks as it was still 27c even in mid October.

Voutoumi Beach

Reviewed By 517gaetanop - Milan, Italy

Spending the holiday in Paxos, we've decided to take a taxi-boat, with a 15€ return ticket, for a daily trip. It takes about 15 min to reach Antipaxos. The taxi leaves you on Vrika beach, where you can stay if you like, or you can walk for about 30 minutes, reaching Voutoumi beach. It is a well organized beach, with umbrella and beds. The cost is 5€ per piece (1 umbrella + 2 beds = 15€). If you decide to have lunch in the restaurant behind, they will return you 10€ of the 15€ paid. Both, beach and restaurant are following the distancing rules. The options are enough wide, from starters, main dishes with fish and meat (also daily fresh fish to be roasted is available at request). In average, including beverages and deducting the saving for the umbrella rental, we've spent 25 € per person.

This beach is well suited to families in the central area with the usual sunbeds, brollies and showers. The north and south beaches are textile optional and both are sheltered by high cliffs. Access to the south and north beaches is sometime limited by high water levels and wading may be needed in places.

We have recently returned from a weeks stay booked as a Jet2 package hotel. The hotel was a last minute booking as we was due to travel to Spain but was unable to due to the coronavirus pandemic. The hotel is very modern and well spaced out. The food quality was one of the best I have experience at an all inclusive. We stayed on a ground floor room as there are no lifts and we have a 7 month old child. We treated ourselves to a spa treatment which was excellent. The beach is literally right outside the hotel across a small quiet road. Their are also a hand full of tavernas in walking distance. We didn’t walk into the local town but I understand this is a 30 minute walk along the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel.

What a gem! Issos Beach has a free car park, a beach cafe/bar, sun loungers and umbrellas, water-sport hire...and then a short walk to the right (North) is a massive stretch of fine sandy beach which you can enjoy naked with plenty of space around you and no weird people. The sea water is warm and shallow. Gimme a beer...this is heaven.

Bataria Beach

Reviewed By morgzz123 - Swansea, United Kingdom

Spent about four hours a day here, during our recent holiday, and loved it. Rented beds and a parasol and ensured we took snorkels and swim shoes with us. The water is clear and deep - certainly not suitable for non-swimmers. There are a few tavernas nearby and a mobile stall selling fresh fruit, although husband walked into the village each day to get take-away gyros. Stunning place.
