it's recommended both by the slow-food guide and the michelen guide, so a must-try for us. we had their home-made dumplings, cold cuts and barbecued mixed meat (chicken, beef steak and sausages). needless to say, excellent food, home-made, fresh and tasty. nice services and very affordable prices (below 10 euros for primo, my mixed meat barbecued plate was just 12 euros, desserts at 4 to 5 euros). can't believe nowsdays such good restaurant still exists..... only two things to note: if using GPS it's at certain point a bit confusing to arrive (need to make sure once you see the sign "santa lucia al monti" drive towards it even the GPS tells you to go straight), second, i ordered a plate of cold cut with salami and italian bacon, as bacon was sold out they gave me all 6 pieces salami, i mean, i would expect they gave me, maybe 3 pieces of salami and 1 slice of raw ham etc etc instead of all 6 pieces of salami...... anyway, not a complaint.

This is such a lovely place in the middle of nowhere, never seen anything like it.The pub is absolutely gorgeous, the staff super friendly, food is lovely and their beer is fantastic! I recommend to everyone to go to this place. We had dinner and drinks and we wanted to watch the football and the staff kindly put that on the screen. When we went to pay, their line was down, I was mortified and there was no cash machine around and to be fair we had a few drinks and we did not want to drive. The guy behind the bar simply said " Oh don't worry you can come back tomorrow ", I could not believe it, as a Londoner I did not expect to be trusted to walk away and come back to pay the next day as I was a stranger to them. LOVELY PEOPLE, LOVELY BEER AND GORGEOUS CASTLE

Wasn't blown away by the place to be honest. The restaurant itself is well laid out and the staff are really nice. Found them to be very attentive and nothing seemed to be an issue. Booking was a bit of an issue - not sure if it was down to my mobile phone or their phone but I was trying to book a table and they kept telling me "pronto" as in hurry up. Called back though and got someone different, and it seemed ok that time - so I can't mark the hotel/restaurant down for that. Could well have been a phone issue. Arrival on the first night was a nice surprise, as I'd not seen it before. The restaurant as you'd guess by the name is themed in an Ancient Egyptian style. Money has been spent on this, and it's not bad at all being fair. As this is a kid friendly hotel, and therefore restaurant, you can expect to spot "the explorer" walking around surveying the land, and there's a little show put on during the meal which the kids can get involved with if they want to. I did laugh at some of the antics, but be aware that as the restaurant is in Italy, the show will be in Italian. Personally I think this is a nice touch, it's good to try and learn another language while you're away.The menu was available in multiple languages, and for fun one of the servers decided to give me a German one - perhaps I look Germanic? Easily sorted - I mean I want to learn more languages but my trip to Germany wasn't for another few days! Regardless, the servers were quick to come and take the orders. Even though this is a child friendly hotel/restaurant complex, they still serve alcohol where requested, which was a relief! Drinks and food orders taken we sat back and soaked in the atmosphere. Music was Ancient Egyptian themed which was nice - though got a little repetitive after a while - however it wasn't loud and offensive so you could pretty much forget it was there.Food was brought to the table really quickly and it was properly hot and fresh - in fact you can see it being cooked if you're close enough to where the kitchen area is - can't ask for more than that. Full of flavour and hot enough to burn your mouth, that's a win in my eyes. Not cheap by any stretch but to be fair it's pretty much the only thing around to get food at so they have a captive audience. The menu selection was pretty good and some of the things we saw being brought out were quite impressive looking! Didn't really go much for the desserts but there was a good choice indeed. I can't say I wouldn't eat here again because we did! We came across this place accidentally for lunch, and were so glad we did. It's not big, seats 40-50 people ann caters mostly to locals. The pumpkin tortellini were amazing, as was the fettuccine with radicchio, smoked ricotta and speck. Wild boar with polenta was delicious! Their house wine was 5 Euros for one litre, and it was perfect. Our amazing lunch for two with wine came to 42 Euros, and we enjoyed it more than the previous day's 150 Euro lunch. If you're visiting the nearby safari park/zoo, this is the place to go for lunch. Only about 10 minutes away, and worth the drive.

I popped in here for dinner as I staying in the Hotel Garden nearby. It doesn't look hugely impressive from the outside although the location by the water is good. The inside belies the outside! Beautiful wood interior and really good, warm, professional service from the staff.I just wanted a mains and had the sea bass with grilled veg. It was divine, no exaggeration!

Everything you could want from an excellent italian dinner with amazing open fire grilled meats. My son is super picky, but scarfed his pancetta pasta in no time and asked for a second course (this never happens). Try the local custoza wine. Our entire bill with multiple courses for three people, water, wine, and soda for the child was still under 60 euro.

A great spot for simple, homemade local dishes. Bigoli all'Anitra was superb and the carne salá was the best I've tried. Simple selection of seasonal dishes, choice of three colours of wine by the litre and some simple, homemade desserts. Service efficient if not too friendly on the Saturday night we visited. Prices very reasonable considering the quality. Will certainly return.

Off the beaten track restaurant serving big portions of good traditional Italian food at very reasonable prices. Tagliatelle with truffle are delicious but all other dishes are good too. If you still have room for dessert I recommend the "Bidonata". Make sure to book in advance as the restaurant gets busy quickly with lots of regular customers.

We had dinner here twice during our 5-days-stay because it was soo good and there were so many dishes we needed to try. The setting in the backyard is just beautiful, the staff is exceptionally attentive and accomodating and the food is just outstanding. Authentic and delicious Italian cuisine among touristic places - at reasonable prices. Would come again. And again.

We returned there after several months, and we found an excellent quality food and friendly yet professional service. Steaks are absolutely top class, especially the fiorentina cut, which MUST be served very rare to fully appreciate its tenderness and amazing taste. Very good veggies and interesting red house-wine.
