According to the INE, it had a population of 2,988 at the start of 2010. The village is situated in the north-western part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, at an altitude of 1,088 metres. The municipality borders Pinos Genil, Dúdar, Quéntar, La Peza, Lugros, Jérez del Marquesado, Trevélez, Capileira and Monachil. Its boundary with Trevélez and Capileira runs along the highest ridge of the Sierra Nevada, and over Mulhacén, making these the three highest municipalities in peninsular Spain. The Genil and Maitena rivers rise in Güéjar.

This place is very expensive. We spent 60 euros lunch for two. The seafood is mostly deep fried. It did not taste especially outstanding or good, just average deep fried. We ordered two kinds of clams, and did not think it has the fresh sweet taste, a little salty or something. Unfortunately there is no green salad to moderate the grease and salt. All vegetable was deep fried only. I chanced upon the local large market hall, where much seafood were served, similarly, to the locals, maybe not as much deep fried. Unfortunately I probably need more spanish to manage ordering or understand the menu (none in English).

Have been loving our trip to Granada and enjoying the many delights here. A friend recommended this place as a “must do” place in Granada so off we went 2 nights ago. The visit started with a warm welcome from the English owner followed by a great service and a beautiful arrangement of tapas food that you get to choose with each drink bought. Whilst the chicken livers in cilantro was my favourite they were all to die for. I summarised my feelings at the end of the evening to my friends saying it was the BEST “tasting menu” I had had in a very long time.... very well done Bar Poe .... guess where we are going tonight for our last night in Granada ..... thx guys

I’m really disappointed from the restaurant. The service was terrible. We were informed in advance that the place is closing just 4 minutes in advance and were served left over tapas on our second order of drinks (photo attached). Moreover, the sangria they serve is nothing but a wine with a soft drink in it that’s far away from real sangria. The bartenders were pretty rude. The only thing that’s worth it is the wine, but tbh I’d rather buy it from a supermarket and drink it at my hotel if I’d known I have to put up with such “service”.

This was my favourite bar on this visit to Granada. Visited here 3 times with different people because it was good. I would highly recommend the roast pork it was amazing. This place was always busy but if you have to wait a little it will be worth it. The staff know exactly what is going on are super efficient as well as being helpful, welcoming and friendly all at the same time. Very impressive.It is an honor for us to be your favorite pomegranate bar, thank you for dedicating your time with this appraisal, we hope to see you again soon. a greeting

Discovered this cafe after being recommended by the hotel next door to try breakfast. What a delight very Spanish! Freshly made coffee & Bocadillo:)Its decor depics 'Old Spain' & the history of the region. The guy who does the morning shift is friendly, speaks a little English. Went every morning when they was open during our 7 day stay. Good prices :)

Lively little tapas bar that is full of character and atmosphere. Most tapas are fish and seafood - top qualoty and very fresh. The shrimp fried tortillas ( camarones) were wonderful. The aubergine drizzled with honey was full of flavour. The clams were so fresh and cooked to perfection. Some excellent wines too.

We visited The Kafka Tavern on our last evening in Granada and were so glad we'd walked the extra ten minutes to find it as it featured the best wine list we encountered in a 10-day visit to Spain as well as outstanding (complimentary) tapas. It was a cold night and we were appreciative of the delicious and warming wild mushroom soup which arrived with our first glass of wine. We were keen to try wine from lesser-known regions of Spain and the bar featured a really helpful wine map and blackboard listing wine types, regions and flavours. During our evening, we tried a gorgeous range of wines from Cadiz, Toro, Almansa and Rioja accompanied by cous cous and roasted veg and ox cheeks in red wine. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and there was a nice mix of locals and tourists who visited through the evening. We thoroughly recommend a visit!Dear Michelle and Darren,It is a pleasure to read your review. I found this bar on tripadvisor and couldn’t believe my luck. I had been very disappointed with a bar we went to the previous night who claimed to offer craft beer but only had 2/3 options and only one on tap. Here there is a selection of at least 20 on tap and many more in vans or bottles you really are spoilt for choice.What I liked most about this bar is that it is so refined more wine bar than normal bar. It has a lot of space between tables and the bar with bar stools and music playing. The service was friendly and efficient. We were offered a tapa but declined this. We enjoyed our beer choices and will definitely return and stay for food too.

We’ve been traveling for three months in Spain and Portugal and we were longing for affordable but different - this was a great place! Great burgers and fries, homemade pizza and nachos! Peter even made us some great margaritas from scratch! Don’t expect things to taste exactly like the American equivalents but it was all even better. We had a hard time not getting the basmati rice and curry dish...so many things to choose from. Marta is a wonderful cook and Peter a great bartender. We met a few locals there as well and had good conversation eating and drinking at the bar. There is a dining room however and it’s a great place for families.
