Ate at the Kings Arms today with friends. Fabulous cooked to order locally sourced food. Good selection of wines and great staff. The lamb special was amazing and my husband loved his fish special. The cheese plate of local cheeses, chutney and crackers was a perfect end to the meal. Eat here.

The Ebrington Arms Restaurant

We decided to go back to the Ebrington Arms to celebrate our first wedding anniversary as we hadn't been back since 2010. The building had changed a little with the extension completed in 2011!! Thought the extension of the restaurant within the existing buildings had been sympathetic to the original pub, although of course it felt a lot bigger. Although we were sat near the pass, I was sat on a long settle which blocked off the pass and we didn't really notice it. The restaurant wasn't full but it was a Tuesday evening. Menu is a little limited - squash appeared as a main course twice and there was no chicken, lamb or pork on the menu for meat lovers. Having 3 vegetarian choices was good though. Probably the highlight was dessert and enjoyed a banana parfait with gingerbread ice cream and meringue was a little unusual. My husband enjoyed the chocolate delice. The pub area was fairly busy when we left as it was full of Morris dancers who had just finished their session outside the pub.

Read previous reviews and thought we would give it a go. Oh dear, I know we only wanted a snack, and we looked on the website. Told the website was now obsolete and different menu. All we wanted was a sandwich and no matter how we asked there were none. They did have crusty bread with soup. Enough said. Will not return.

Just got back from a lovely Sunday roast - plenty of beef, nicely rare to medium. They even swapped a bit of mash for an extra couple roasties. Mash and roast potatoes? Never! Desert (sticky toffee pudding) was excellent. Great service. Any faults? Unfortunately there were cob webs were we sat and I didn't have the cash to leave a tip - me bad: no facility on card payment, but that's down to me. Yes, an lovely meal. Starter was really nice (rarebit) too. All round a wonderful evening.

We visited on my birthday earlier in the year as I love scouting out Donnington pubs. I was made to feel extremely unwelcome. Having waited patiently the best part of 5 minutes for the barmaid to cease idle chit chat with the locals at the bar, I noticed she whispered something under her breathe which was aimed in my direction. When she finally did acknowledge me, I asked if they were serving food to which she curtly replied “No”. As I left the bar, I heard an older couple enquire about food and I overheard the barmaid offer them a choice of sandwiches! If you’re under 50, don’t expect anything less than a frosty reception and appalling manners!I am very sorry that you had this experience here. I have messaged you directly. I would like to offer you a meal. Again I am truly sorry and I have spoken to all staff members Jess
