Great place in St Mary's by the church. Quick, friendly service, varied Asian menu, food was delicious and decent portions, all for a reasonable price.

Upon arrival, having booked a reservation online, the staff had no awareness of our group. After a 5 minute embarassing wait, we were shown to a table.The staff had poor English and we struggled to understand what was going on.We did not feel particularly welcome. The service was generally poor being served by a wide range of staff who had little co-ordination between themselves). The options were difficult to understand. I eventually realised that the standard fayre is to go with the set meal (although the a la carte menu was available if you were prepared to wait). We ordered the set meal.The portions were very generous and there was good variety. The quality of food was excellent.If this restaurant could get its customer service better, it could be a 4+ star restaurant.

Been here twice in a week, outstanding in every way, food so different and delicious, the service and atmosphere is perfect. I used to dread going for Indian food when it was suggested but I absolutely love this place, itâs the coolest restaurant in Southampton. You HAVE to go!!!!!!

Beautiful restaurant with lovely ambiance. Friendly & welcoming staff.Wide range of menu to suit all tastes, all served quickly & beautifully presented. The entire restaurant is spotlessly clean & the entire meal, all reasonably priced, was truly amazing. Probably the best curry I have ever had & being a seasoned curry fan of over 30 years, this is great praise indeed! You really must visit this establishment to experience their fantastic cuisine

Found this via Tripadvisor and we were pleased that we did. Lovely curry and good service. The staff were friendly and the meal was very tasty. Very high standard and most enjoyable.

We ordered a takeaway from here Friday evening. The time got pushed back a couple of times for delivery but thought they would be busy being Friday anyway. Was no problem. The food was delicious, the only quibble would be I didnât like as much the mint/yogurt dip with the onion bhajis as it wasnât as it used to be, was much more yogurty. The Bhajis themselves were smaller than they used to be too. The actual curries we all got were fab though, big pieces of chicken and lamb which was really soft. My husband was a bit disappointed with his Keenan nan as there wasnât much mince filling. No bags on salad from here either as you get from other takeaways. But all in all we both really enjoyed it and it did us 2 dinners

I've ticked Indian but think the cuisine is actually Bengali. This restaurant opened last week just around the corner from my house. We tried it last night and it was excellent.

The restaurant name has been changed to the Royal Spice to reflect the fact that they offer dishes from several countries in the sub-continent. Confusingly the restaurant has two entries in Trip Advisor, one as "The Royal Bengal" as well as this one (and both now needing a name change)On a Wednesday evening at 19.00 we were the only diners in a 60-cover restaurant, which has happened to us here before and is surprising given the quality of the food and the cooking, and the pleasant environment.They did have a couple of takeaway customers while we were there, but deserve more custom.The ambience was pleasant (background Indian music remained in the background) until a young staff member walked through the restaurant talking loudly into his mobile phone while we were eating, below the standard of professionalism demonstrated by the owner who had served us. The food was prepared freshly (King Prawn biryani which my wife tells me was delicious, whilst I had lamb tikka makhana with veg and rice, equally enjoyable . . . and filling!) With a peshwari naan, a glass of wine for my wife and a J2O for me the bill was £38 before we applied our Gourmet Society discount (25% off the total most days of the week) to give even better value.

Had our wedding anniversary meal here. Our first visit. Food was amazing. Obviously all freshly cooked. Fish cakes were delightful and the sea bass Curry was excellent. Staff were very attentive. Booking online was easy with a response within a few minutes. We will definitely be returning

Fabulous food. The best jalfrezi Iâve had for many, many years and the naga curry was absolutely delicious. View from outside, lighting and decor might make you think youâre heading in for something basic - but the dishes are really quite special. Iâve visited hundreds of curry houses and this one makes my top 3. Lovely.
