Monastero del San salvatore

The interior of this church is stunning, the decoration is of very high quality and there is a peaceful contemplative atmosphere. We were told by our excellent guide Annalise that it was done by a top painter from Palermo and what the different colours signify. The tour of the tower was interesting, the daughters of the wealthy families were sent here as nuns, but it is now a seminary for the priesthood. It was an easy climb up to the tower with no scary drops, and there are 360 degree views from the top.

The MacS rise up inside the Little Abbay of the Monastery of S. Benedict, situated in Crociferi Street, site of Unesco and the World Heritage. This historical structure, attribuited for grace of shapes and armonic set of the architect Giovanni Battista Vaccarini is connected to the Great Abbey trough the famous Arch of S.Benedict. In harmony with the beautiful setting that it is placed and with wonderful baroque paintures of the church of S. The MacS is in fact the union line that starts from the distant Baroque painting tradition to arrive at contemporary and the aim is the promotion of the cultural heritage of Sicilian heritage, often creating cultural associations with equally prestigious historical and artistic containers , and the promotion of contemporary Italian and international art giving space to young talents and ancients artists . In the choice of this site is its very essence: the Macs wants to be followes of the aesthetic contain of our time. The reason why priviliged that figurative art its art collection is the conviction of evocative fonction. MacS' inspiration are classical criteria and parameters of beauty, executive competence, techinical ability, harmony of shaper, very ofthen emargineited by the Avant- Garde of the 1900s, melted with reality, the means, the needs and the expectation of what is contemporary.
