You first step back in time to an old 1800's home on a beautifully wooded lot. Paul's wife greeted us and took us piece by piece around the gallery describing the history of the pieces and the techniques used to create them. The glow she had while describing her husbands trade was amazing in and of itself. My wife and I settled on a couple of great numbered prints that captures some of the characters of the Appalachian area. Her husband, Paul comes in and she convinces him to sign our pieces. The place, the art, the stories and hospitality were all amazing. This is definitely a MUST do on your next trip to Gatlinburg!

A. Jann Peitso, art!

Small gallery but filled with brightly-colored watercolors by the owner-artist. Come in and create your own original artwork to take home as your memory of your Great Smoky Mtns National Park/Gatlinburg visit. In the historic arts & crafts community of Gatlinburg, TN.

I had the pleasure of discovering the Gatlinburg Art's Community on this trip and signed up for a painting class with Jann. I've been a bit intimidated by watercolor (and painting in general) but she explained the supplies, the process and techniques we'd use and I was ready to proceed. Jann and I had an identical set up of materials in front of us and as she demonstrated technique I followed, creating the most lovely painting. Jann is a skilled teacher and I loved every minute spent learning from her and getting to know her. When I left I had a matted painting which I will frame and proudly display, plus a comprehensive packet of materials and resources that will guide me in purchasing what I'll need to continue painting when I return home. It was truly a transformative experience and I recommend highly taking this class. Jann is amazing !

My husband and I had the best experience in making pottery on our trip to Gatlinburg and Fowler's Clay Works.Mike was very patient with me and helped us to make the perfect additions to our collection. He really made it a fun class by allowing us to make mistakes and learn along the way. I highly recommend signing up for a class and stopping in to check out the beautiful, artistic pieces they create. I will definitely be back.

Vern Hippensteal Gallery

Reviewed By marthag795 - Spartanburg, United States

Had wonderful afternoon wandering through Vern Hippensteal's art gallery on the Arts, and Craft loop. Vern has such an amazing gift for capturing the small details within the watercolors of the Smokies. Vern also captures the side of the woodland flowers, and plants, My favorites are the whimsical tiny fairies under the flowers. Vern's Son, also a gifted artist, has his work displayed there too. Loved his nautical paintings.

Cliff Dwellers Gallery

Contemporary & Traditional Fine Crafts & Art Gallery located in the Arts and Craft Community in Gatlinburg, TN with a working studio and local artist demos.

We stop in here every time we are in Gatlinburg, sometimes twice. They have a large selection of handmade crafts, and the ladies who run Cliff Dwellers are both knowledgeable of the artists and their crafts as well as artists themselves. We always seem to find a unique item or 2 (of 3!) here.
