Top 10 Art Galleries in Kansas, Kansas

See a buffalo up close, live like a cowboy for a day on a working cattle ranch or visit a stagecoach stop on the Sante Fe Trail are just a few of the many vacation experiences possible in this state in America’s heartland. You’ll love the wide-open spaces and the opportunities to engage in a variety of one-of-a-kind experiences in this marvelous state, which has the largest segment of true tallgrass prairie remaining in the U.S. Regardless of where you visit: a major metropolitan area like Kansas City, a college town like Manhattan or Lawrence or engaging places like Wichita, Dodge City and Salina, there are a wide array of attractions and sights nearby. If you want to familiarize yourself with cowboy culture, visit the Boot Hills Museum in Dodge City, dine on all-you-can-eat barbeque and hear songs of the American Cowboy at Diamond W Chuckwagon Supper in Wichita or explore the Dickinson County Heritage Center in Abilene, which has dance halls, gaming rooms and 32 saloons. For outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, biking, fishing, bird watching and other activities, three of the state’s most popular parks are: Cheney State Park near Wichita; Scott State Park near Scott City and Tuttle Creek State Park near Manhattan.

It also is the custom workshop and retail showcase for IBISwoman Jewelry, designed with ancient, antique and contemporary materials from around the world. Jim Richardson has more than 30 magazine stories to his credit, with more on the way. For the National Geographic Society and clients worldwide, he speaks on issues such as feeding the world and lessons from rural places. He was named photographer of the year by his National Geographic photography colleagues in 2014. His working office is in the gallery and he chats with gallery visitors whenever he can. IBISwoman Jewelry was founded in 2002 by Kathy Richardson, Jim's spouse. Now with Briana Zimmerling as co-designer, Kathy collects jewelry design materials that give each pair of earrings, bracelet or necklace a story that spans eras, technologies and traditions. The massive IBISwoman collection of metals, organics, stones and glass is the groundwork for all the designs seen on the gallery floor. It is open for browsing and tours, as well as work bench consultations on custom designs.

The Clayworks

Reviewed By NantucketNice - Kansas City, United States

I go here every year alone around Thanksgiving for gift ornaments for friends and family. ( i have no choice now...lol...they'd all be very disappointed not receiving one in their stockings or gift box) The hardest thing is choosing!!! They are honestly all so beautiful and so unique. Its very hard to pick so i stick to the subject matter of the person i'm buying for...(the hubs loves crosses....our daughter likes the animal ones...my mom loves birds..etc) there is truly something for everyone and everyone is so nice, and welcoming and its clearly one of my favorite spots to holiday shop. There are many many other gorgeous pieces available besides the ornaments, but ornaments are just my thing and i already spend so much time there choosing them that i stay with that tradition. I love that the artists' pictures and names are tag attached to each ornament, (and so do the people i give them to.) I love this place and Lord willingi cannot wait to go back this year!! P.S. my daughter in law is an accomplished artist and former art instructor at WSU. These ornaments are her Favorite ( and most anticipated) Christmas gift every year!! In fact I started choosing small ornaments and saving them for her birthday later in the new year to use as package ties!! She loves them!!
