Been here on several occasions. Donuts are good. Big selection. If they have sour cream cake donuts, you must give them a try. They are outstanding. Haven't tried anything else yet. Customer service is hit or miss.

Cagney's has a menu that sort of runs the gamut of diner food. Greek, Italian, steaks, seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads, specials. Also good appetizers. I really like their classic meat lasagna as well as their veggie version. Marinated beef strips are excellent. Breakfast is solidly good, with a daily breakfast special for $4 that includes a breakfast meat, eggs, taters and biscuit. Desserts are surprisingly good. Service always friendly and efficient. Really like this diner.

This is a unique restaurant that is perfect for a gals' lunch out. The decor is definitely feminine- almost brothel-style, in a way. But in a good way. The homemade chicken salad, cornbread salad, and raspberry tea are all excellent. So are the odd little crackers that are there to snack on while you wait for the meal. Very nice place for a full lunch or just a dessert and coffee with the girls.

I stopped in here for a meal and Beers after a bike ride at Kerr Scott. I had a Fried Chicken Sandwich. It was not very good, the Chicken was hard and chewy,Seemed overcooked. The Fries were good. They do have several nice Local Beers. The Servers seemed to cater to the regulars, I was kinda ignored.

Looking for lunch on the way home from a visit to a Christmas tree farm and decided on Dooley's in downtown Wilkesboro. Well worth it to find this quaint little place. Better selection of NC IPAs then we had seen lately. Good service from Courtney and we noticed her politness to her co workers. Homemade fries really good. Ordering tip: if you want pink in your fresh ground burger order rare. We ordered med rare and no pink. We will be back though if traveling in Wilkesboro along 421.

Pa-Paw's BBQ Restaurant

Reviewed By Gryfudd

We're always willing to give a new barbecue place a try so we decided to stop in at Pa-Paws one day at lunch. Surprisingly the place was very busy and we figured out the reason was because of the very low prices. That was pleasing, but the food was just average and not worth a return visit. Perhaps if they offered fewer things on their menu they would do better. The barbecue was average, the coleslaw and hush puppies were good, but as soon as you go off this menu you are taking you chances. I decided to give the boiled shrimp a try and could barely get the second fork-full down. In fact I did not finish the shrimp at all - the tiny white squiggles had no flavor at all. If you're looking for cheap eats, give Pa-Paws a try - maybe you'll have a better experience than we did. Another caution - expect to wait for your waitress, maybe even a table if you go at a busy time of day.

Casual fine dining restaurant in the heart of downtown North Wilkesboro open for dinner Tuesday-Saturday night. We offer a broad dinner menu, nightly specials & a bar menu as well.

I dined with three business associates and had an excellent meal. I had a wedge salad with blue cheese dressing that I enjoyed thoroughly and a hamburger steak for my main. The accompanying mashed potatoes were awesome, but I found the hamburger steak itself a bit dry, though it was ordered medium. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for a nice meal in a fine restaurant.

The 50's

Reviewed By travelingbillbury

The 50's is a low-key diner with mostly local clientele, but the staff and guests all welcome out-of-towners if they behave themselves. ;--) Breakfast is really good here...the breakfast cook is very good with eggs. Tenderloin, country ham and sausage patties are all great--the sausage is locally produced and it is exceptional. Wednesday pork chop special for lunch, and Friday chicken salad special for lunch are popular bargains. They serve the most massive pork chops I have ever seen. Pimento cheese is outstanding. Banana pudding is always fresh and tasty.

Walked in because the sidewalk menu read homemade ice cream! My daughter and I walked in to see what it was like — and omg this place is amazing!! Quaint with a bang. They were serving breakfast and you could tell the locals loved it. We sat at the bar to review the menu and while sitting there noticed there desserts. We decided to complete our walk because we were definetely going to return for the dump cake and cinnamon roll. When we returned with Debit card in hand to this local farm to table restaurant we were prepared to order lots of goodies. We were planning to visit chick fil a but after catching site of this menu and watching the owner cook in the back - we managed to work up a $35 tab. That included a veggie 3 egg frittata - a two egg breakfast meal with homemade sausage patties - home fries and homemade toast a kids chicken tender meal with fruit and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and let’s not forget why we came back. The cake and cinnamon roll did not disappoint. The staff was amazing which totally matched to food. Will definetely go back and recommend to family and friends.
