We regularly drive nearly an hour to go there, because the udon is that good. It's homemade right on the premises and you can watch is being made. The restaurant has an open kitchen, so you can also watch your food being made. For this reason I like to sit at the counter. There are three types of seating: counter, normal tables and Japanese style low tables where you have to take off your shoes before sitting down. I prefer to sit at the counter, because further in the back people tend to smoke. However, if you go at lunchtime, there's hardly any smoking there then.At lunchtime, especially on weekends, be prepared to wait. One time we waited for nearly an hour until a table became available.The udon served there is not what foreigners are used to. It's thick, unevenly chopped, chewy and delicious. The broth is very full-bodied, with strong flavor, very meaty. Not your typical udon soup.You can have your noodles either cold or hot. They also come in several sizes, depending on how hungry you are.The menu is printed only in Japanese, and even the prices are listed using Japanese characters, so if you can't read them, ask the staff to write them on a piece of paper for you, or show you on a calculator.Literally, everything is good there, you can just order by pointing at whatever on the menu.People who don't eat pork, beware. The soup is a mix that is also pork based. It's best to go there by car, but if you happen to be in Tochigi prefecture, the restaurant is easily walkable from Jichiidai University Hospital Station (on the Utsunomiya JR Line).
