My wife and I visited St. Michael's on a cool and quiet pre-Christmas day and happily found a lovely restaurant, 208 Talbot. On certain weekday evenings in St. Michael's off season, the house offers a significant portion of its extensive menu as very reasonable "prix fixe" option. This significantly expanded our choices. Not too many restaurants serve duck since it can be a difficult dish to prepare well; but I often order it when the option presents itself. This chef's duck was my personal "Greatest of All Time," beating the honor held for many years by "The Duck Club" of Bodega Bay. All courses of the dinner were superb and the gas fireplace in the back dining room took the winter chill from the stone walls. I trust that I will return.

Tilghman Island Country Store

The Tilghman Island Country Store is an old fashioned corner market. We have a full deli and carry-out menu. We serve breakfast starting at 5:00 a.m. most mornings, and our kitchen closes an hour before the store does. We sell beer, wine, spirits, most grocery items, dairy, tobacco, ice, and snacks for any occasion. We do light catering and can prepare a tray of sandwiches for your next event or large crowd. We have a little bit of everything!

While visiting the beautiful area of Tilghman Island I came across the quaint little general store that I am reviewing.
Upon entering the store I was greeted with a smile and some kind words from the woman working behind the counter, whom I would later learn is Patricia.
During some general conversation while I was looking around, Patricia boasted that she had recently just perfected her version of the common burger. She explained that this burger would taste great, be nice and juicy and she would be confident in telling me that it will be better than any other burger that I would be able to purchase in a 15 mile radius.
Now after all of this was said, I figured how in the world could I walk out and not try one of these burgers?
So I ordered my Smashburger, added cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and some mayo. I also indulged in the special they were running to switch out the chips that are normally served with the Smashburger for my choice of fries for a nice price of only $8.00. I of course chose to have the regular fries that ended up being crinkle cut fries which are definitely my personal favorite.
I waited for a couple of minutes and observed Patricia interacting with numerous other customers whom she treated as if they were guests in her own home. Once my burger was ready she rang up my order and wished me a great day and hoped that I'd enjoy my Smashburger. Well I went outside and sat at the picnic table just outside the front door. Inside the bag was my Smashburger and some expertly prepared crinkle cut fries, along with a couple of Bread and Butter type sweet pickle chips and one napkin.
I dove into the fries first because a perfectly prepared crinkle cut fry is simply irresistible to me. My first bite of the Smashburger was just as Patricia had advertised, tender, juicy and delicious. I had one more bite before thinking to myself, those pickles might be just the cherry on top off this amazing burger. So I added those pickle slices to the Smashburger and believe me when I tell you "Patricia has perfected the common burger".
I know it may not seem like much to some people but for those of us that love a good burger, I am pleased to say that I had the pleasure of enjoying a perfect burger today.
So in closing I'd like to thank Patrica for her polite conversation, the welcoming attitude that she showed to each and every person that entered the store, and for suggesting that I try the perfect burger that she had recently perfected. If you are ever in the area I would highly recommend that you stop in and meet Patricia and let her know that Andy sent you in to try her version of the common hamburger, The Smashburger.

We have been here before and the food was good, service was ok. However, today was just horrendous. We walked and were immediately barked at “we can’t seat any more people because the kitchen is backed up”. I stood there a bit perplexed but I get it. We asked if we could just sit at the counter and wait, answer was no. So we bought a paper and asked if we could get on a waiting list. No was the answer again, just sit outside and we’ll let you know. So we sit outside and watch 2 more couples walk in. They stood for about 5 minutes and were seated. So we walk back in and ask if we could be seated yet. They said yes and we were finally seated. Another couple was immediately seated next to us. Meanwhile 4 people were sat before us, and the two that were sat beside us. Another 5 minutes go by and they serve the table beside us first. Apparently we were invisible. No apologies no kind words. So we got up and left. Such a shame to be treated poorly in this quaint town that we love and visit at least 10 times a year.

The place is really cool and quaint. The food was delicious especially the soups. Service was upscale and professional. It is pricey. Once we were inside it was just another good fine dining restaurant. Nothing creative or special. Just very good food, good service, good ambience, just like you expect anywhere for the $'s. WE would make another choice the next time. Fine dining choice in a quaint fishing village? What was I thinking in the first place.

Visited together with friends for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the location, service and the food.
Had nice coctail outside with nice boats crusing by followed by nice dinner inside.
Best of all, no signs of peanuts in food or when cooking.
Only issue was that I could not reach the restaurant on the phone beforehand to check status with regards to peanuts.

We stayed near here for a couple months, so ate here 4-5 times. Great view from inside and out. The servers were very nice, but reserved, so don't expect an extroverted, interactive waiter/waitress. We did have to ask for tea refills every time, even though they were seldom busy on the nights we were there. The food was good, served family style with common bowls of vegetables. Not phenomenal, but like mom would serve. We liked that. The portions were very generous. We had the ham steak and fried chicken. Highly recommend both. Drinks were a little high. Must try.
