Great food, good service, nice price. Typical Thuringia dishes, and large servings, full of the local patrons so don't be surprised if you have to share a table oon a Sunday.

The menu outside gives the impression of limited fair, this isn't the case. Thuringia is the centre of Schlager music so if you can grin and bear the radio channel they play and the guests tapping, humming and whistling along its a great place. You'll have problems in any case escaping from Schlager in this area from the poshes to the worst place.The pizzas are good, Snitzel good. Didn't try the steak. Enough menu choice for veggies from the pizza and pasta options.The waitresses keeps the glasses full and there is no pretentious service that one found in the current TripAdvisor #1. Outside and in dining.Prices are good.

5 of us ate here last weekend. My main course (schnitzel) arrived a long time after the others (my father in law was just finishing his) without apology. It was a soggy greasy mess and the worst schnitzel I have tasted. My wife's special chicken dish was much better. I should have checked the bill but quickly hid it so that neither my parents-in-law nor the over 80 year old who was our guest did not try to pay as I wanted to treat them. That is why I failed to realise until we returned home that I had been charged twice for my late and poor quality main course. So my rubbish late schnitzel cost EUR 22.We ate here before last year and had a good experience but shall not bother returning again. I suspect the problem may have been related to their being very busy - so much so that we were accommodated in the associated ice-cream parlour next door. But still no excuse for shoddy service and overcharging.

Der Gasthof Zapfengrund mit 12 Gästezimmern und 2 Ferienwohnungen liegt unmittelbar am Städte-Radweg zwischen Eisenach und Erfurt. Als Ausgangspunkt für eine Wanderung zum GroÃen Hörselberg bietet sich der Zapfengrund ebenso an, wie auch als Einkehr nach der Wanderung, oder einer Radtour auf dem Radweg. Die Gaststätte, ein malerisches Fachwerkgehöft, bietet traditionelle Thüringer Küche an. Der Gast wird freundlich empfangen und auch so bedient. Die Speisen werden frisch zubereitet und sind sehr schmackhaft.
