Thorndale is a census-designated place in Chester County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,407 at the 2010 census. Thorndale is the commercial and administrative center of Caln Township. The community's main street is Business U.S. Route 30. Many of the old houses that were Thorndale have fallen into disrepair and have been torn down and replaced with new business from the late 1990s to present. Thorndale is historically notable for containing a summer house of US President James Buchanan, which still stands and has been incorporated into a golf course and turned into a restaurant. The community contains the Thorndale Fire Station and Caln Elementary School, part of the Coatesville Area School District. Thorndale sits along SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Line and is currently the last station stop on that line. It is also served by the Rover bus system.

Only had two in last two years at our home, but next special occasion, getting one!!!
My Brother and sister in law brought for the last two years for Christmas dessert.
Both times a delicious Chocolate cake, 1st was all chocolate, mousse too? Last year had some white cream frosting as well, I did like total Chocolate one best and will order that one for sure. I could of eaten two pieces a day for a week, it was a large cake too. I am now trying to consider an excuse to just get one!!

Cute, cozy family place with good home cooking and friendly staff!! Love their food!!! Only open for breakfast and lunch. Daily specials too!!! You won't be disappointed!

My wife and I go to this restaurant quite regularly because it is within walking distance to our house and has the best Italian food in Downingtown. We were there on a Thursday and I got the veal part and my wife got the penne with vodka sauce.
We started off with the bread and the small salad that comes with the meal. My veal was done correctly and was tender the spaghetti that comes as the side was very good. Her Penne was outstanding. The portions are large and we both took home about half of what we were served.
Service is attentive a, not a long wait for the food, but you could end uup waiting for a table as the walk ins sometimes have a 10 - 15 minute wait.

I've been to this restaurant twice. Both times the service and food were very good - once was for breakfast and once for lunch. If you want to go somewhere with a nice, informal atmosphere, try it out; you won't be disappointed.

This is a casual Italian restaurant with a nice dining room in one section and a separate bar area next door. My semi Italian wife had spaghetti with clams and said it was the best she ever had! I had smoked salmon penne with peas and cream sauce- best I have had as well. Overall, food was fantastic Italian fare. Service- girls were pleasant, efficient, well trained professionals. Atmosphere- family dining type. Pronto can give Limoncello's a run for their money anyday!!
Manager checked up on us during dinner- nice touch.
Prices were reasonable. Very well done!

I love this place although they have NOW added a FEW too many tables, since there is outdoor seating summer/spring is a bit quieter........the FOOD makes up for lack of
space between tables, great ART.....friendly capable servers......LOVE all their egg dishes I have tried over these couple years. moved to Virginia BUT come back HERE when I"m up..........

I read the reviews and headed over here. I'm writing this from the booth. It is a cool diner architecturally. The diner food was better than average and would be 4 stars. Sausage and cheese omelette is very good, really good home fries, good coffee when you can get it, and servers that are so disengaged I would suspect they are earning $20 an hour with no tips.
The sign said, "Wait to be Seated" and so I did despite the fact that there were three people standing within 5 feet of the sign. I waited and waited. No one said a word to me so I waited some more. Not a good start. Finally I was asked "how many?" One. And she took off to a booth. Not a word. Threw the menu down and left. Not a hello, nothing. After more wait time the server showed up sans greeting. I managed to get coffee and water. Placed my order and waited some more.
The food finally came and it was excellent. The server must have used her allotment of words this morning because there is almost zero dialogue. The greeter, busser and all the servers are having a grand 'ol time at a booth in the far corner while I'm begging for coffee and water refills.
Well, the food is really good, the service is the antithesis of good, and when I'm in the area again I'll probably try something else. If I'm paying $14 for breakfast I'd at least like a thank you and a second cup of coffee.

Food was good, service was good, wait was long. We came with a group, so we didn't expect to get seated quickly, but we watched as tables opened up that could have been used for us get used for smaller groups. The response was "we have a system". Unfortunately, the "system" doesn't include accurate estimates, as our wait was nearly double what we were told (i.e. 40-45 min in the middle of a Saturday afternoon turned into about an hour and 15 min).
thankfully, the service was quick once the order was placed. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was good. Nothing jumped out as "wow, you just have to try this" but nothing was sub-par either.
I'm not a beer drinker, so can't comment on the beers, but people in my group enjoyed it.

When you leave the NY metropolitan area it get's harder to find good pizza. Forget the national chains, they don't even serve good pizza in NY much less out here. Jack's has real NY style pizza along with all the other traditional pizza shop fare. Being a pizza traditionalist I don't care for BBQ chicken, or taco pizza, but you can get them here too. And being so close to Philly, yes they can make a pretty good Philly cheesesteak!

My sister and I decided to have lunch here before venturing out with others for dinner. It has undergone quite the colorful makeover having been a Pizza Hut years ago and a diner in between. The servers were friendly and the menu quite extensive. You do receive an ample portion especially considering it was lunch time. My sister ordered the burritto and I order the chicken enchiladas. Both came with rice and mine came with beans which I told them they could leave off. While you are waiting you do receive a basket of chips with salsa topped with fresh cilantro. Both of our lunches came out lukewarm so when the waitress came back to see how we were doing I did let her know that the kitchen should be made aware that both meals were not hot. She did offer to take them back but given the sour cream on top microwaving didn't seem like a viable option. Pricing is average.
