Come with me on special day and explore Zadar with uniqe Sea Organ, visit local family Roca and taste local food and wine A historic old town of Roman ruins, medieval churches, cosmopolitan cafes and quality museums set on a small peninsula, Zadar is an intriguing city. It's not too crowded, it's not overrun with tourists and has two unique attractions - the sound-and-light spectacle of the Sea Organ and the Sun Salutation - need to be seen and heard to be believed. The mix of ancient relics, Habsburg elegance, coastal setting and unsightly tower blocks is what gives Zadar so much character. And I will make sure I will show you just that. It's no Dubrovnik, but it's not a museum town either - this is a living, vibrant city, enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. I am sure you would like some time on your own - free time 1h in Old Town Zadar After walking tour, a 40 min drive to Authentic Local Family Lunch "Roca". Enjoy! The Sea Organ, a set of marble steps that uses sea water

Inclusions: Round-trip private transfer, Driver/ Guide, All activities, Transport by private vehicle, Fuel surcharge, All taxes, fees and handling charges, Airport/Departure Tax, Hotel pickup and drop-off

Exclusions: Roca Family Konoba You can pay directly there.

Pack your bags and begin your memorable Zadar City Tour now. Whether you want to discover ancient Zadar or take a picture in front of the Sea Organ, this Walking Tour of Zadar has something for you. We walk 90 min rain or shine no matter what. Dress accordingly, bring an umbrella or a raincoat if needed. We don't enter any Museum or Church. If you don’t join our Walking Tour in order to hear more about Roman architecture then you will surely join it because of the Venetian walls and bastions. Demand is high, and tours fill quickly, so book your ‘seat’ in the front row immediately! If you fall for the Sunset, join us in the afternoon tour. You will find out why some of the most famous people, like Alfred Hitchcock, said that Zadar has the most beautiful sunset in the world. Roman street net guides you through the city towards the Venetian masterpiece of defense. At last, a winged lion, symbol of Venice and St. Mark salutes you on your way out from the old core. The city has spoken…

Inclusions: Possible Free Entrance to a medieval church or Maraskino degustation which are on our way

One of the most challenging things to do in an ancient city is envision it as it was. Zadar is no exception, and on our first evening, it felt as if we were walking through a living museum without any understanding of the history of Zadar. We had our travel guides, but they were missing valuable context that you can only get through a tour.   Dorja led us through the entire old town, pointing out both the Roman and Venetian influences over present-day Zadar.  Through her excellent style of communication and deep knowledge of Zadar, it was easy to imagine ancient Zadar.  The city took on a completely different personality when Dorja talked about it. Dorja told us at the beginning of the tour that there was a lot to cover and she wanted to cover everything. (She also asked us for input, but we didn't know where to start, so we let her lead the way - which is the best way to approach a tour - in my option.) She took us in churches (that weren't covered in our guidebooks), showed us ancient sites (that weren't covered in our guidebooks), and candidly shared more about the history of Zadar and how it has influenced the present.  I found Dorja's direct candor very refreshing, and I appreciate all of the recommendations that she was willing to make for the rest of our trip. She is truly an outstanding guide, and this is a great tour to book to learn more about Zadar and experience more than the beautiful sunsets.

Take a 2-hour tour through the problematic 20th century of Zadar while learning off fascism, nazism, communism and the terrible Croatian Homeland War. World War I caused Italian occupation and years of fascist rule under Benito Mussolini. The city changed culturally, demographically and politically. World War II was a disaster with 80% of Old Town destroyed by Allied bombing. Rebuilding Zadar was a difficult task under communist rule and Tito. The fall of communism through the Croatian Homeland War marked the end of totalitarian regimes and brought peace to both Croatia and Zadar. Join us for the tour and find more about the turbulent history of this city...

We wish we had done this tour in the first day of our stay in Zadar. Sime (Simon)is a local and gave us a fantastic story and history of this fascinating and mainly beautiful place. From its Illyrian roots ,the Roman remains and through history to the scars of WW2 and recent war in 1991 and the impact of this on Zadar and its architecture. You get the feeling that Old Zadar is for the locals, lived in by the locals and has not sold its soul like other Adriatic cities. There are brutalist buildings stood next to Roman remains but you have an understanding why this is but this is the beauty of Zadar today.
