Things to do in Wichita, Kansas (KS): The Best Concerts & Shows

December 5, 2021 Kiesha Cripe

Dorothy clicked her heels to return to Kansas, and you'll want to do the same after you've visited this one-time cattle town turned modern, booming city, where the spirit of the Old West lives on. To get a feel of the early pioneer days, visit the recreated village at the Old Cowtown Museum. For a slightly more eccentric experience, visit the Museum of Ancient Treasures, which has everything from a baseball signed by Joe DiMaggio to a shrunken head. The Indian Center Museum features works by Plains Indian artists. Wichita is an aircraft manufacturing center, and the Kansas Aviation Museum honors pioneers in the field, as well as housing model planes. Exploration Place gives kids more insights into aviation and other scientific wonders. For nature and wildlife, check out Botanica's lovely gardens or head over to the Sedgwick County Zoo, home to over 350 species of animals. Wichita stays up when the sun goes down: there's nightlife, culture, karaoke and cuisine for all tastes.

My husband came up from Alva, Oklahoma to see this dinner theater production and I was beyond impressed! The show was so halliarious and I can't wait to come back again and again and again! I give it 10 out 5 stars! There was so much amazing talent in that room! Strongly encourage everyone to go check it! The wait staff was also very polite and on top of things. No complaints whatsoever.

This is a wonderful little theater that seat around 80 people, so every seat has a great view. WCT provides (8) shows each year with (10) performance per show. Every time I have seen a show I am amazed in the variety of sets that are designed, and the hard work all the volunteers on stage and back stage to produce such fantastic live theater. WCT is a 501C3 non-profit organization, with 100% non paid volunteers, encompassing some of the best local talent on and off stage.

First of all, this is a GREAT theater for a show. It's big, it's spacious and it's so well designed that NO ONE will ever block your view. But the highlight is definitely the acting. The amount of talent in this city truly blows me away! A few years back I took a trip to New York City where I did a story on the number of actors on Broadway who came through MTW and a director actually told me that there's a saying in NYC that "The quickest way to Broadway is through Wichita, Kansas". I believe it! I just saw Rocky Horror there and was blown away by how great it was. The acting, the costumes and the direction was spot on. The only complaint I have is that the sound system isn't as good as it could be so many of the words in the songs were hard to understand if aren't already familiar with them. Aside from that, I HIGHLY recommend it. It's a real Wuchita treasure.

The comedian all did a great job, it was a lot of fun! My only complaint would be about some customers in a larger group in the back that wouldn't shut up! But we were in the front so it wasn't a big deal.
