Chris was our guide and was not only knowledgeable but also passionate about his homeland. Itinerary got a little messed up (NOT Chris’ fault - roads washed out or under water) but thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. If I travel to Wales again I will absolutely be calling Chris for a new adventure.

My husband and I had a fantastic day with John through Snowdonia and Conwy Valley. We saw and learnt more in one day than we did in 2 weeks driving ourselves - and without the stress! John was quick to adapt the tour to our interests and was interesting with a good sense of humour. He showed us some special locations that you miss on your own without immense research and time and we got our best photos in one day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend John, and in particular the value of a private tour.

I came on the Castles, Mountains & More tour with my family and we all had a fantastic day. Our guide really knew his stuff and gave us lots of interesting information about all the places we visited. The tour was well planned and we got to see a lot in one day, including castles, the Brecon Beacons and the town of Brecon itself. Thanks to Roam Wales for giving us a day to remember!

On this tour you are accompanied by a historian with a deep passion and knowledge of Wales. You will learn some Welsh, sample traditional Welsh food and learn about the ancient history and culture of Wales. Gareth, your guide is a fluent Welsh speaker and he will give you an insight into Wales that wouldn't be available with a standard tour operator. The area we will visit is dotted with quaint old towns and picturesque villages which seem untouched by time. The South West is the home of Pembrokeshire coast national park, and is an area renowned for the beauty of its beaches and coastline. For the lovers of castles there many to discover with Carreg Cennen, Pembroke and Kidwelly being three of the most impressive. An example of a tour could be a visit to the wonderfully preserved Norman Castle at Pembroke, then lunch in the beautiful medieval port of Tenby followed by a stop off in Laugharne, the former home of the poet Dylan Thomas.

Enjoy stunning views of the Clwydian Range onboard a vintage open-top London double-decker bus as we climb 1,368ft from Llangollen to the highest point of The Horseshoe Pass. See the spectacular Llantysilio Mountain to the west and Marilyn Cyrn-y-Brain to the east. The road travels in a horseshoe shape around three sides of the valley, giving the pass its English name. We stop at the Ponderosa cafe - the highest point for 30 minutes so plenty of time to enjoy the views and pop into the cafe and gift shop before the journey back to Llangollen. Our fully restored vintage London bus dates back to 1964 and is the only open-top Routemaster operating in North Wales and the Northwest. These iconic buses served the streets of London for over 40 and are real head turners, so you are guaranteed plenty of admiring waves and smiles from passing motorists and pedestrians. Please note if wet weather/poor visibility is forecast we may cancel the tour as we know you would not enjoy getting wet!
