Things to do in Vina del Mar, Valparaiso Region: The Best Wine Tours & Tastings

March 9, 2022 Nobuko Falco

The most popular beach resort in the country, Vina del Mar is within reach of both Santiago and Valparaiso. Vina teems with tourists during peak months December, January and February, despite Antarctic currents that make swimming a formidable prospect. Renaca is the hippest spot to sink onto the sands. The Fonck Museum and Quinta Vergara provide insights into the area's recent and ancient history, archaeology and natural history. Stroll along Avenida Peru and take in stunning ocean views.

Did this trip in February. To sum it up it consists of 11 hours in a minivan to visit three churches in Chiloe, none of them is interesting unless you are an academic interested in the technical details of wooden church building in the mid 19th century. However good the guides are (and our guide was excellent) this piece of Chile is not worth visiting. The drive to Castro in Chiloe island comprises a 70km motorway run to a ferry and then more than two hours driving along a scruffy, semi industrialised road with no redeeming features to Castro. On arrival the only logical question is "why bother". There are so many beautiful places in Chile I would suggest that people give this excursion a swerve and prevent the total waste of a day of their lives.

Sean was awesomely the best of the bestest - very highly recommended!!! We toured Valparaiso and Vina del Mar with him, and he dropped us off at Santiago for our cruise embarkation the following day. That was our first trip to South America - our pre-cruise tour, as we cruised Chile, Antarctica, Falkland Islands, Argentina, Uruguay - still so many places to explore in this area. We will definitely come back, and use Sean's company again...

One of the highlights on our trip in Chile. Jimmy and Simona were very welcoming and accommodating as they picked us up in Vina del Mar instead of Valpo. Jimmy and Simona like to focus on smaller groups so that the experience is more intimate and that they can give the proper attention to each guest, which was greatly appreciated. Sandboarding and Surfing were great. Jimmy will teach you all you need to know on Sandboarding and they partner with a local surf shop to get you a proper 90 minute surfing lesson. They also did a great job of capturing our moments on the trip as they took some pictures and videos of our adventure. The homemade pisco sours were delicious along with the spread of food for a nice lunch on the beach. I would highly recommend this trip as well as the other trips that Go Penguins offer!

A country with a very special geography invites us to visit Valparaiso and viña del mar which will bring us closer to history 120 kilometers from the capital, passing through valleys which give us a vision of central Chile so your guide stop for your wine tasting , when we reach the coast we can see the real meaning of the port city of Valparaiso, the first foot of the history of Chile a whole landscape like a rainbow is a perception of something that calls the popular and traditional inmercion and then viña del mar that is a very different and very beautiful city, which reminds us of its first social group aristocracy that I inhabit the garden city as they call it now a great contrast between both cities exploring history and the miscelanio of the city  of viña del mar as a citizen.

Inclusions: Professional guide, Transport by private vehicle, Alcoholic Beverages, professional driver, Pablo Neruda museum tickets, Take the funicular , Bottled water
