My sister and I took a bird-watching tour with Eco Colors guide Jose Paz. It was a highlight of our trip to the Riviera Maya. Jose took us to two different areas and we saw more than 30 different species. He was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable about all the birds. He recognized them by their songs and could spot them even in the dense trees and shrubs. In the second preserve, he had also arranged a lovely lunch for us, cooked by a delightful woman over a wood fire. Jose's driver joined us and he was also a very likable fellow. It was a great experience and I highly recommend!

10/10 I would do this trip again. My advice would be to go for the 4 hour tour over the 2 hour version because it goes by very quickly. Everyone is unbelievably kind and you taken care of the entire time. If you are looking for a snorkeling trip where you don't have to plan anything, this is the one for you.

4. 5 Days of Pink, Green and Blue Yucatecas

Ek Balam, is a spectacular archaeological zone in the heart of Yucatan. It is not very famous as Chichén Itzá, therefore you can enter without making big lines, take pictures without crowds and walk calmly without bothering vendors. But the best part is that you can climb to the top of the pyramids and contemplate the spectacular jungle that surrounds it. Despite globalization and everything that involves it (technology, customs, etc.) the beauty of San Felipe is intact. The design of their homes are still picturesque and simply unique, you can go walking through the streets and have the feeling that you are visiting a rainbow. It is something that attracts the attention of own and strangers.

The haciendas of Mexico were part of an economic system that began with the Spanish in the sixteenth century, similar to the feudal system of Europe. They were efficient farms and manufacturing centers that produced meat and other products for export. Over time, the haciendas became symbols of economic health and culture, adorned with architecture, furniture and art from all over the world. Like the southern plantations of the United States, the haciendas reinforced the caste system, based on race, with the hacendados as masters and the Maya or indigenous as laborers. Most of the Yucatecan haciendas in the 19th century produced henequen rope, a plant variety of the agave cactus, which was exported by the growing transport industry.

6. 3 Days in the Romantic Valladolid in a 3 Star Hotel

The colonial charm and natural beauty of the cenotes of this magical town called Valladolid, are one of the great reasons to get away and enjoy a few days in this quiet and beautiful town. Valladolid is one of the two magical towns that the state of Yucatán has and is known for its history and colonial atmosphere, as well as the presence of the Mayan culture; it is enough to see the architecture of each one of its constructions to delve into its history and feel connected with culture and tradition. The town is relatively small and you can cross it very easily. In the center, the first thing you will see is the cathedral, the park with its fountain, shops and small restaurants. Strolling through the park and eating a marquesita is something that you must do almost in a compulsory way. While there, ask about the turibus that takes you around the main points of the town.

I bought this tour from the hotel concierge for $55 US. The same tour was offered to me by a adventure tour vendor on the street for $50. granted neither one of these tours offered a vegan meal but I don't think that a vegan meal is worth $350 extra buy your own vegan meal and bring it with you you can spend $100 on your vegan backpack lunch and another $50 on the backpack and still save $200.
