The Monastery of Santa Maria del Piano is the last of the monasteries built by the Basilian monks to remain standing in Italy. It was built in 900A.D. by San Christopher from Collesano and it has seen centuries of splendor under the rule of the feud by Marquis Dalla Porta and Princes Carafa. The church has been restored and in its interior was features frescoes depicting scenes of the Great Flood.
