We walked up the hill to Giresun castle passing the university building. It takes about 20 minutes from the city center and you get some fine views on the way. The view from the top is stunning - especially on a clear day. There is a sign telling the story of Giresun castle in English.

This is probably the most well preserved and explained castle ruins we've seen in Turkey. We enjoyed all the signs describing each area and room. Very well done!

The castle might not be the most exquisite thing in Amasra but Amasra is so beautiful with the old town and all the streets of the fortress you can explore and sut on the walls overlooking the ocean with beautiful seagulls flying by admiring the sunset.
