Follow your host through the creative neighborhood of Coyoacán, former home of world-renowned artist Frida Kahlo (she’d never have lived here if it were an average, run of the mill neighborhood). Discover La Casa Azul (Frida’s former home), shady squares, exotic markets, decadent street food stalls and purple jacaranda lined avenues. Do as the locals do and hang about outdoors, people-watching, snacking, enjoying the live music and absorbing the progressive spirit of this bohemian neighborhood. Our handpicked hosts are culinary connoisseurs and history buffs, bakers and bankers, students and seniors. Like the people who travel with us, they have different backgrounds and interests – but they’re all so passionate about the place they call home, they choose to spend their free time sharing it with the like-minded travelers matched to them. Your meeting place and time, as well as itinerary are flexible. During the experience, you can always change your mind about what you want to do.

Inclusions: 2 to 4 hour experience, Private and personalized, Start when you like , Kids up to 12 go free (hooray!), Hotel meet-up (available on request for central location)

Roberto was an incredible guide for our exploration into the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco! He was communicative and flexible, as well as being incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. It was clear that he knew about the history of the of Xochimilco, but was also in touch with present day issues facing the area. We learned so much about the community and Mexico City as a whole. It was really an awesome experience floating along the canals, such a unique place, and gaining insight into Mexico through Roberto. I highly recommend going with a guide (like Roberto) to fully understand the place, history and culture.

We booked this tour based on it's itinerary and reviews. We do enjoy an occasional private tour. We were picked up on time at our hotel. Veronica was our guide and was amazing. We went to a flower market before getting on the floating boat. The ride was lovely. Veronica told us a lot about the city it's history and culture. We went to the Diego Rivera museum which is amazing. Then to the Coyocan market where we grabbed a bite to eat and have some free time. Then the Frida Kahlo museum which is a must see. The driver was excellent, smoothly guiding us around the city. We also stopped at the University which wads fascinating. Veronica is very proud of her city and it shows. Her energy and enthusiasm were palpable. The price for what you get is a real bargain. Highly recommend

To say that I was nervous about my first high-altitude hike on Iztaccihuatl is an understatement. But from the moment that I met our guides -- Carlos, Marcos and Johnny -- I not only felt that I was in good hands, but that I was taking this journey with friends. The logistics were well planned, the food they prepared delicious and transportation was easy. Ahead of the hike, they also did a great job at preparing our group, and answering all of my questions and concerns. (Carlos and Marcos both speak great English, which made me feel even more comfortable.) The hike was challenging and quite strenuous, and the terrain precarious at parts. But WOW. What a spectacular sight it was to watch the sun rise over Popocatepetl as it spewed ash and smoke into the air. Hiking across the glacier was another highlight. But the best part of it all was pushing my limits, taking in a landscape unlike any other I'd ever experienced, and doing so in a safe environment with a super fun group. It's a journey I'll never forget, and I'm glad I did it with Mexico Travesias. Can't wait for my next adventure with them!
