Santa Fe Trail

The Santa Fe Trail is a 4.5 mile long paved path on the East side of Dallas. The 12 foot wide path connects White Rock Lake on the Northeast side of the trail to historic Deep Ellum and Fair Park on the Southwest side of the trail. The trail runs through some of the most historically significant neighborhoods in East Dallas and touches 4 local parks along the way. There are water fountains, benches to take a rest, a bike repair station and incredible views to be found along this trail. If you are looking for a place to walk, jog, or bike, but wanting to avoid the congestion of other Dallas area trails, the Santa Fe Trail is for you. Come experience a more laid-back East Dallas attitude.

35 Miles Of Paved And Natural-surface Paths Winding Their Way Through Several Of The City's Many Parks.

Although not completely connected to dedicated bike paths, it is quite possible to do “Y” rides of 50+ miles. Afternoons on weekends get a tad crowded with families out for a stroll spread across the trail, but otherwise very pleasant, pretty flat. Check the trail maps to see where you can go. Mellow Johnny’s bike shop and Press Cafe (near Mutts in ClearFork) are handy for start/stop/trailhead. Ride North along the West Fork to/past the falls to a trail head or follow the river south east to the boat house and beyond. I ride from Mira Vista, so there are some street miles (some with marked bike lanes).

Nice park to bring the kids. Short hiking trails and a playground. Small water works for kids to play in. Bathrooms have improved over the years. Need to get out of the house for a few hours and bored? Nice place!
