Things to do in Tenerife, Canary Islands: The Best Water & Amusement Parks

February 15, 2022 Kiesha Cripe

Tribal Terenife still shows influence from the aboriginal Gaunches people. Visitors clamber to conquer Mount Teide (Spain’s tallest peak) and to stretch out on the sands of Los Gigantes. Squawk hello to the playful parrots of Loro Park, or brave the petrifying drive to beautiful Masca Valley. For a true taste of Terenife, sample fresh farmhouse cheese and local bananas. A piece of delicate calado canario lace makes a special souvenir.

ARTlandya

Everybody who wants to experience Tenerife just outside of mass tourism, is able to find a worthwhile goal - very close to the Centre of Icod de los Vinos. The small town with its old and historic towncentre is also known for the Millenary Dragon Tree, the Drago Milenario, which is located approximately three kilometres from ARTlandya. In Santa Barbara, a district of Icod de los Vinos, with quiet, rural ambience, you will find ARTlandya - la Finca. It is an estate with a tropical Park and old, stylishly renovated Canarian houses with different exhibitions. Besides, it is no TOY MUSEUM and no private collection of dolls of all kind. We show you the fascinating world of dollART! ARTlandya is also no dusty museum in the customary sense but dollART from today in rooms from yesterday. Artistdolls and teddy bears on Tenerife? But why not? Tenerife exists not only of nature - the island also offers a lot of culture! ARTlandya is unique in whole Europe - it is a museum for contemporary dollART at the highest international level! A world of experience with DOLLS and TEDDYbears, a world for children and adults!

Costa Martianez

The Costa Martianez Tourist Complex, also known as Lago Martianez, is a leisure and entertainment zone comprising seven artificial seawater swimming pools and a large lake, as well as gardens, terraces, islands, viewpoints, solaria, cultural spaces, bars and restaurants. It currently constitutes the symbol and main tourist attraction of Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, the most traditional and prestigious tourist city on the Canary Islands. The Costa Martianez Complex is the pride of Puerto de la Cruz and all of Tenerife. The quality and beauty of its facilities provide the visitor with the most suitable environment for bathing and relaxing and, thanks to the Canary Islands’ privileged climate, can be enjoyed at any time of the year.

With it's simply stunning main lake and several smaller pools, what Puerto de la Cruz lacks in beaches Costa Martianez certainly makes up for! It's perfectly manicured and well kept with plenty of sunbeds and places to grab a snack and a drink and at 5.50 euros entrance it's excellent value. As others have said, you can pop in and out as much as you want during the day as long as you hang on to your ticket but we were sucked into the tranquillity and spent the whole day here.

Stayed nearby in the marina and ended up visiting daily, you can buy a book of 10 tickets for €70 euro instead of €8 per person per day. The pool restaurant cooks the best black pudding I have ever tasted it has almonds and fruit in it nothing like ours at home and should be on the desert menu. We had lunch there most days as everything else was lovely as well. It has changing rooms showers toilets as well as an amazing view from the infinity pool. Staff are very friendly and we loved the place.

Great place to visit for the kids who love water rides and of course the adults who want to get down them slides!!! All the rides great fun only thing is use flip flops to get up and down the steps as they are hard work on the feet!!! Pools have lifeguards monitoring all areas and all rides supervised by friendly staff. Dolphin show amazing worth a break in the day to watch the show all the handlers looked after the dolphins and the lucky volunteers get to take to the water with the dolphins a great day - make sure you have your camera and don’t leave it in the locker for this show!! Food and drink available on site but not the greatest so would take your own food in. Lockers available for small fee of €5 and you get €2 back when returning the key. Blue and red slides are the challenge and good luck lol Would recommend to anyone with kids under 13 as most rides they can go on unlike Siam park which has stricter height restrictions. A very good day out and will be back next time for sure.
