Bholaganj Sada Pathor

Reviewed By FreedomtourBd - Sreemangal, Bangladesh

Bholaganj is situated in Sylhet Division, Bangladesh. Original name (with diacritics) of the place is Bholāganj. It is 33 km away to the north from Sylhet city. Bholaganj is the largest stone quarry in Bangladesh and filled with hills, rivers, waterfalls and quarries. Companiganj Upazila is bounded by Meghalaya (state of India) on the north which is 27 km away from Sylhet city on the Salutikor-Bholaganj Road and just six kelometres from there is Bholaganj which is covered with the Cherapunjee hills. River Dholai just entered at Bangladesh through this place. The Meghalayan clouds, waterfalls from hills and the sandy shores of the Dholai, ceaseless streams and transparent water of the river are the main attractions that draw tourists to this place. Tourist can get the most beautiful view during its rainy season. Different people with different activities can be seen here. The workers around the river collect the stones from the river with buckets, carry the stones and use the long boats. Tourists can move eastwards past Doyar Bazaar, Mayar Bazaar, Uthma, Turong, Upur, Domdoma and Bitthorgul before reaching Bisnakandi. HOW TO GO THERE: It takes about an hour and a half to reach Bholaganj from Sylhet as the condition of the road is very poor. So using private vehicle is not recommended. There is no direct bus service available from Sylhet city to Bholaganj. But there are taxi services available from Sylhet city to Tuker Bazar. Tourists can use boats but they need to get permission from BDR post. WHERE TO STAY: It is recommended to stay at Sylhet town as there is no accommodation facility in Bholaganj. Tourists can visit and return back to the town within the same day. There is Government Bungalow in Companiganj and few guest houses of government officials in town. WHERE TO EAT: There are some local food shops and restaurants at Bholaganj bazaar. For Guide or any information : Contact us : +8801775718000

Jaflong

Reviewed By shafiqzaman - Dhaka City, Bangladesh

Located about 60 km north of Sylhet city this place is famous for the border crossing into India located at Tamabil and the stone bed river that flows between the two countries at Jaflong Zero Point We stood just on the border, with Indian border guard a few feet away Many Indian tourists come here to take pictures and stand on their side of the border Next we go to Jaflong Zero Point which has majestic hills in the background in India One can also see the hanging bridge with traffic going and coming from India between the hills Here you are actually standing on Indian soil as there is no clear cut demarcation or boundary fence separating the two countries. The road to Jaflong from Sylhet is bad for about 10 to 20 kms but it is being prepared for carpetting so hope that finishing will be done before the next monsoon season Best time to visit is in winter highly recomended
