Sydney offers plenty of historical and contemporary Australian flavor. The marvelous Sydney Opera House looks like a great origami sailboat, floating peacefully in a harbor. Wander the narrow cobblestone streets of The Rocks and then take in a street performance on the Circular Quay before heading into the Museum of Contemporary Art. The views from the Sydney Tower Eye observatory are epic – use this chance to get to know the layout of the city from high above.

To discover the mystical unique Australian Opal look no further than the experience and passion of this 3rd generation family business. Celebrating its 70th anniversary in 2018, Altmann + Cherny is internationally recognised as the oldest Australian Opal specialists. This is your opportunity to learn all about Australia’s National Gemstone and view the largest gem opal in the world ‘The Olympic Australis' which is on permanent display.
On a recent trip to Australia and New Zealand our tour director recommended that we go to Altmann and Cherny if we were interested in opal jewelry. This store is wonderful with a wide variety of jewelry of varying price and style. We selected a ring but wanted to compare at another recommended store, and received no pressure whatsoever about looking elsewhere. We knew right away that Altmann and Cherny offered a much better selection at comparable price. When we returned, after all the paperwork had been completed to purchase the piece, we were told that they would not sell us the piece as there was an undetectable flaw. They offered a refund, but then worked with us to find another comparable piece, which I absolutely love. We have never had an experience with a store of such wonderful repute and honesty, and immediately told our entire tour about this amazing event. Several went back to shop. We highly recommend Altmann and Cherny for their outstanding collection of jewelry, their service and honesty, and the amazing experience they provided.

This is such a lovely gallery/shop to visit. I wanted to buy an authentic, beautifully crafted didgeridoo for my brother's wedding present, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The manager told me all about the didgeridoos, and gave me a fantastic demonstration on what they sounded like. I shipped a very fancy didgeridoo (serpent carved into a knot in the wood) back to the UK, and my brother was so happy with it. Thank you! It makes such a difference to know about the artist and see genuine talent. I will be back!

Volle Jewellery is one of Sydney's most iconic Jewellery stores. Right in the heart of Sydney CBD you will find opals, diamonds and so much more!
My husband and I along with our friends, traveled to Australia as part of my 60th birthday trip. I wanted to pick out something special to celebrate my birthday and the trip so we went in search of opals. The Volle team was very helpful in educating us on the types of opals and where they were from. My friend selected a beautiful opal necklace and chain and Helen found me a very unique and beautiful bracelet. Thank you!!

Attended Ray and Maria’s galleries for some years. There is the one in Sofitel and No. One Martin Place (in the old GPO building). No pressure to purchase. Fantastic collection of art work; some of Australia’s greatest artists and Indigenous artists. Well worth a visit just to see what is going on and take a breather from CBD and its intensity; or to chat about the latest trends. Wentworth Gallery: Sydney institution. And if you’re visiting Australia, you can pick up a piece of Indigenous art far cheaper than you’d imagine. It’lll fit in your suitcase and you will have a unique reminder of your happy days in Australia. Philip Sutherland

Window shopping is elevated to a graceful art when walking through the floors of the Strand Arcade, a Victorian shopping center established in 1891.
The Strand Arcade is a beautiful, 19th century building complex. A shopping Arcade where you would love to go any time. It is a Victorian style shopping mall, established in 1891, and it is heritage listed. Inside there are some of the loveliest stores in the city, including amongst others fashion, jewellery and cafes. We have been there several times and keep going back. Worth a stop for an hour or two!
