Curug Cimarinjung

Reviewed By 682jons - Jakarta, Indonesia

Curug Cimarinjung is extremely easy to get to and makes a great early stop in a visit to Ciletuh Geopark. It is one of the icons of the park and is absolutely awe inspiring to stand next too. The spray is incredibly powerful so get ready to get soaked!

Geopark Ciletuh

Reviewed By 682jons - Jakarta, Indonesia

Ciletuh Geopark is full of amazing, huge waterfalls and stunning scenery. It's a 6 hour drive from Jakarta but you feel like you have entered an entirely different world. The air is clean, the hills are impressive and covered in dense foliage and there is good bird life throughout the region. Some of the waterfalls can be visited by just a short walk from your car while others offer 30-40 minute hikes for the more adventurous and fit. It's best to organize a local driver who knows the road conditions and where everything is to make sure you can make the most of your stay. We stayed at Ciletuh Hills which is a brand new resort right next to Curug Sodong and Cikanteh two of the finest waterfalls in the park and it has a few villa's with amazing views, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms and high quality air condition. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a base to explore the park. They also organize very reasonably priced "Safari Tours" to the main attractions in the park using high clearance vehicles that will safely get you to any of the parks many destinations. This place is one of the few remaining true paradises in West Java. If you plan a visit avoid the weekend or long weekends if possible or else you might encounter crowds escaping Jakarta. We went mid week and had most of the waterfalls completely to ourselves or with maybe one other group.

Sodong Waterfall

Reviewed By 682jons - Jakarta, Indonesia

Curug Sodong is a powerful double waterfall in the Ciletuh Geopark. There is a beautiful spot to the right of the waterfall where you can sit on a rock in the shade and get out of the spray to take pictures and soak in the beauty of this place.

Ujung Genteng Beach

Beautiful beaches, wildlife, virgin nature.

Reviewed By Cherylscience - Jakarta, Indonesia

Second time I've made this trip. This time around I took my 5year old. Lovely well kept turtle sanctuary. The baby turtles are released at around 5.30pm every evening. The caretakers are knowledgeable however they only speak Indonesian so if you don't you'll have to have someone translate for you if you have questions. If you take an early morning walk (5.30am) you are often luckily enough to spot the last few turtles returning to the sea after laying their eggs. If you walk along the beach to the right for about 8km you get to a beautiful deserted beach which is calmer and swimmable. (See picture). Really recommend it just make sure to bring lots of water with you as it gets hot and there is nowhere to buy more. You can also access it through the forest -1-2 hrs walk but nowhere near nice a walk better for the homewards trail. The closest place to stay near the turtle sanctuary is Batu Besar guest house. Simple but comfortable.
