Nine are inhabited, including the mainland St. Vincent and the Grenadines islands: Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Union Island, Mayreau, Petit St Vincent and Palm Island. The Rum Shop Tour is a great way to support small local businesses that you would not know about otherwise. It creates and opportinity for you to mingle with other visitors, expats and locals while combining walking, sight seeing and drinking. As you will purchase your own drinks or food, you can decide what local treats you want to try. It is not luxury tour, so don't join if you need top of line. However, if you want an authentic experience with quality people, then this is the tour for you.

We so enjoyed this fabulous and strenuous hike in Bequia. Nicole and Nate felt like old friends. We enjoyed hearing how these expats wound up on this island. I now know the difference between sheeps and goats in this part of the world. The beautiful 360° views at the top of the mountain were well worth the hike. We hiked on a Sunday afternoon which is the time that live music is played on the island. We could actually hear some of it during the hike. We shared rotis and some of Nicole’s rum punch after the hike. Cool!

La Soufrière- If you are an eco-tourist, if a day of climbing and hiking fancies you or if you are just looking for the most stunning view available then this trail (4km each way) to an active volcano, St. Vincent’s highest point (4048 feet), La Soufrière, is the tour for you. For the average hiker, two hours will take you to the summit where you can behold the majestic beauty of the Volcano. This tour takes you along the picturesque windward (eastern) coast, through banana and coconut plantations. You travel along steep volcanic ridges verdant with bamboo and tropical trees. One may even be able to climb down into the crater to get a closer look at the steaming doom which plugs the amazing feat. The “on top of the world feeling” and its marvelous view makes this site one not to pass by. Facilities include gazebos, washrooms and parking.

We spent the day with Samuel and had the best time! He tailored our tour to exactly what we wanted and even tweaked it on the day when we needed to change it. We started with a visit to Forte Charlotte and has an interesting guided tour by one of the guides. We then went onto Dark View Waterfalls which require trekking through a beautiful rain forest (amazing!!) before heading to the Pirates of the Caribbean film set. We were also celebrating a birthday and Samuel arranges a cake! We had fun on the bus and he provided drinks, beer and WiFi - we named it the ‘beer party bus’! St Vincent is beautiful and he knows everything! He is also the best driver on the island :-)! Highly recommend booking him!

We have visited St Vincent previously and were looking for something different to see on this visit. We were visiting via cruise ship and Samuel was waiting for us just outside the terminal building. His van was comfortable with AC, although in the end opted for opening the windows for a natural breeze. I contacted Samuel directly and he was very prompt and responsive in answering all my queries. The tour was very interesting with Samuel being a great guide and also serves an amazing rum punch! Would highly recommend a tour with Detention tours.
