American Stage is definitely one of the highlights of living in St Petersburg. Not only is the choice of repertoire cutting edge, but the acting is really top notch. It is one of the few theaters that give actors of color a chance to shine. The plays of Dominique Morisseau have been excellent. They even performed Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home. If you are in the Tampa Bay Area make it a point to see a play at the American Stage.

We attended the Shen Yun show on a Saturday afternoon. The hall is very nice, up to date, and well maintained. It's not a gigantic place so I couldn't see where there would be a bad seat. We were in orchestra seating, fourth row. The show was great. I recommend it. But the venue was top-notch. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were an hour and a half early so we strolled over to the park on the water. It was a beautiful day. The doors to the venue opened an hour before the show and the doors to the hall opened a half hour before. All very well organized. The parking was convenient and not expensive. We got in and out easily. The prices were very reasonable. We got a bottle of water and a Diet Coke for $6. I really recommend this place.

Heard the Tampa Symphony give a free concert on a new works competition. Great to see such a high quality volunteer organization perform in a very nice venue that is not too large. A great space for many types of performances and would be there on a more regular basis if I lived in St. Pete.

We drove three hours to hear The Florida Orchestra on April 20, 2018. This was a performance of the Verdi Requiem. The conductor, Mr. Michael Francis , is excellent. The musicianship of the orchestra members is superb. This performance included the Combined Chorale ( I hope I have their name right) of Tampa. Approximately 130 singers. There were also four soloists. The music , singing ,and the conducting were incredible. I was impressed and delighted. At the end, the audience was spellbound and did not react for about 15 seconds. Then there was cheering and thunderous applause. Bravo to all. Thank you. Tampa is lucky to have such talent.
