Chora Patmos

Reviewed By alisonsM6413UD - Newbury, United Kingdom

Chora (also known as Hora) is absolutely gorgeous. Every narrow street is a photoshoot in and of itself. There are several good restaurants here the views from which are spectacular (our favourites were Benetos and Jimmys). There's the monastery museum to visit which is lovely. I suspect in normal times (ex covid) Chora is generally packed with tourists so best to go early or late. Luckily for us with it being mid September and no cruise ships visiting Patmos we'd Chora all to ourselves and it truly is a magical place

The Medieval Moat

Reviewed By KarinAndFilip - Eeklo, Belgium

The Medieval Moat was built to keep enemies away from the main fortification system but unlike other Moats this one has never been submerged in water. It is about 2.5km long and a very nice walk! There is even a theatre inside the Moat and you can spot Sand Martins.

Western Archaeological Zone

It is amazing that anyone can walk for free through these ruins into houses and sometimes with mosaics. In most countries it would all be roped off.
