MacKenzie Art Gallery

We attended the November Rawlco festivities and loved the exhibits, especially Christi Belcourt’s artwork! We love the BMO space where we made felted wool crafts. We also take our kids to the studio Sunday programs. We plan to attend the future monthly special events too. During these events, admission is free but membership is also very affordable.

The MJMAG has a great little gallery! The night we were there they had three new exhibit launches, and each one was a rare treat. Their Discovery room is also very well done, and worth a visit. Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the museum, but I have a feeling it would be well worth it.

If you love pottery or other hand crafted pieces of art and jewelry and ceramics this is the place to come. Always good to support local artists.

Well I had to drop in and visit over the holidays to see what the fuss was, it's not every day that I get to see world class art, in a spectacularly modern building, overlooking the beautiful snow covered river banks in a tiny burg that now punches far above it's weight culturally and artistically! The Sonnabend Collection and the Picasso linocut exhibition warmed us in the frigid winter temperatures and before we knew it, we blew through 3 or 4 hours! The Picasso linocut exhibition was super informative and really makes you wonder about the blurry lines between art and craft and thoughts like that. So if you're into thinking, considering, and appreciating, the folks in Saskatoon are lucky that others shared their success and you've got a place where one might do those cerebral things! In a world of muddled voices and careless whispers, few put their money where their mouth is, and that's just why the Remai and Mendel families gifts of art and culture are so appreciated! Thank you for bringing the world here in a beautiful building! After viewing the Lichtenstein and Koons, we sat in the coffee shop with those huge windows thinking about art and music and Joni Mitchell came up, and we just made a wish for the future, maybe that because of Remai Modern, great artists won't have to leave home and maybe some of that worldwide acclaim might find a resting place here!
