Must commend Brander and how we love the tasting room, ambiance and product. Sitting outside on a garden deck next to a waterfall, sipping a great wine and enjoying the view. Could it be any better? Go see Carlos in the tasting room manager who is impeccable in his presentation of the wine making process and tasting notes! Lovely relaxing and simply the best????????

Carr Winery Santa Ynez

Reviewed By jes22 - Minneapolis, United States

The tasting room is located in the town of Santa Ynez. They have a great tasting room manager, she is friendly and very knowledgeable about wine. She shared lots of info about wines and AVA. Their wines are very good. It is a rather small winery, the owner does everything, actually growing the grapes and making wine. They also have tasting room in Santa Barbara. Our visit was a special experience.

Our micro climate, soil and meticulous farming has already started producing exceptional results. The estate's first vintage was harvested in 2010 and already possesses great promise by continuing the tradition of producing ultra premium handcrafted wines from the Santa Ynez Valley A.V.A. I enjoyed the wine tasting and the chocolate truffles were so delicious. It was a nice place to visit and enjoy wine. The service was great. The pretzels were enjoyable, just wish the mustard was more ample. Otherwise, it was a great place to spend time with friends and meet new people.

CrossHatch Winery

All of the wines produced by CrossHatch Winery are co-fermented blends sourced from Santa Barbara County vineyards. CrossHatch is a winery created in 2011 by winemaker Ryan Carr that focuses on co-fermented blends from Santa Barbara County vineyards. After making only single varietal wines for eleven years, winemaker Ryan Carr wanted to try something different. He and his wife Jessica came up with the idea for CrossHatch, inspired by the classic form of art. Cross hatching is an artistic technique that uses closely spaced intersecting lines to create shading, definition, and form in a drawing. Carr took this technique and adapted it into the winemaking process by harvesting multiple varietals on the same day then crushing and fermenting them together. Co-fermentation brings out and creates flavors in the wine that would not have existed otherwise. This makes the CrossHatch wine truly one of a kind. Visit the tasting room in Santa Ynez, CA for wine tasting and wines by the glass.

This winery is only accessible through reservation at this time. It is located near Santa Ynez and was a wonderful surprise. You must be buzzed in at the gate to enter the estate. The tasting room is new and modern but nit open fir inside tastings, only outside tastings are available during this pandemic. The fall colors were spectacular. The view was peaceful and beautiful. We were greeted by our hostess Vanessa, she was amazing. She was so knowledgeable and helpful, did I mention she was a sommelier? There was only one other tasting being held while we were there. She sat at a socially distant stool and walked us through our vertical tasting. The Rose was dry but had a rounded finish, so good. The reds were a Cab franc, Merlot and GSM, all good. We will return and hope the experience will be as good as our first!
