Things to do in Rhône-Alpes, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes: The Best Hiking Trails

October 1, 2021 Marianna Hollaway

From the rare truffles of the Drôme to the vineyards of Beaujolais, the Rhone-Alps reveal the treasures of French cuisine. Gastronomic pleasures are complemented by the lush countryside, filled with fields of lavender. UNESCO-designated Lyon has first-century Roman ruins and the 19th-century Basilica of Fourvière. Forts and castles dot the landscape around Grenoble. Work off excess calories on the slopes of Chamonix and Megève. Visit during fall to take advantage of the grape harvest and many festivals.

Grand Balcon Nord : Plan de l'Aiguille du Midi - Montenvers

This is a very nice trail to walk. You can go up with the cable, then walk Gran balcon and go down with the little train. Or just walk down. Take a backpack with you with drinks and some food. Also better to take good hiking clothes with you because the wether can change quickly. When it is warm in the village can it be cold on the mountain. Take also a little first aid kit with you.
