Our main reason for coming to Iceland was to see northern lights so my daughter and I chose this tour with Jónas for just the two of us. He was absolutely amazing! We got to see the northern lights that we have been longing for for so long and he even treated us to homemade hot chocolate and very tasty donuts which was a nice touch. Jónas is a jack of all trades so he knows a lot about the area and can give you the science behind the lights. You can tell that he loves his country just based on how passionate he is and how excited he is to share it with visitors. He took professional pictures for us and allowed us to download them so that we could show them to our friends and family which is a fantastic perk since we could not get our cameras to work very well each time the lights showed up. We had done a similar northern lights tour in Reykjavik which had 15 people packed on a small bus where everything felt squished and rushed, but this trip was 10x better than that. You won’t be disappointed by having Jónas take you out to see the northern lights. He’s a wonderful person and treated us as guests unlike some of the bigger companies that just pack as many people as they can on a bus to get the most money. So book your next trip with Jónas and go see those northern lights as they are stunning!

This eruption is called Öskjugos 1875. After the eruption ended there was a great deal of subsidence in Askja, and then Öskjuvatn was formed. On the eastern bank of Öskjuvatn you will come to find crater Víti. a 2,4 km hike from leading us the crater Víti and the Lake of Askja. Bring along a swimsuit and a towel. You will be able to swim in crater Víti. The water can be 24-28 ° C. Next stopp. The most recent volcanic eruption in Iceland is the Holuhraun volcanic eruption in Barðabunga that started on the 29th of August 2014 - and lasted until the 27th of February 2015. We booked the trip from New York, and we’d heard of Sarah through friends in India. The trip was very meticulously planned, and proved to be a very good respite during the pandemic. Iceland is a very beautiful country, and Arago added quite a few unconventional stops on our tripX which made it even more memorable.
