Things to do in Reno, Nevada (NV): The Best Spas & Wellness

April 12, 2022 Tynisha Seiler

Nevada's "other" gambling and resort town, Reno is located in the western part of the state near the California border. What the city lacks in glitz or reputation it more than makes up for in attractions and amenities. There are first-rate hotels, golf courses and casinos to rival its southern counterpart and, also like Las Vegas, Reno has become a popular destination for families. Galena Creek Park offers nature trails that even young children can navigate, plus organized educational events for families.

Upon entering the spa lobby I was greeted warmly, I was checked in and offered a tour of the 3 floor facility. They provided complimentary comfy robes and sandals and let me know I was welcome to use the facilities all day. I loved the locker room area with hot tub, sauna and steam room. I received a massage from Emma and she was outstanding! She greeted me promptly at my appointment time and made me feel welcome right away. She asked a few questions about my medical history and preferences during a massage, which made me feel like she cared. I have never been more relaxed after a massage!!! Will be back to this spa soon for sure.

My friend and I love Angela at the Spa Atlantis and find every opportunity to sneak in a massage with her and a day at the spa. The facilities are fabulous, but you can't beat Angela for a massage. She is a master at the Swedish massage, perfect in every way. We've gone to other people, but none are as good as Angela. Visit the Spa Atlantic for the amenities, but book with Angela. She's worth waiting for.

Converted church houses very hot water. Each room is related to a chakra color and has a tub either from one or two or handicap. Showers in the room make it easy to cool off without going out of your room. Cold face towels on a plate with a flower offer a very nice touch. Relaxation music is piped into the room and two tiles are provided for two people. There is a couples massage room and another massage room or two. They also have a far infrared sauna and a room with color and sound therapy which I'm looking forward to trying. The front desk person and the manager were both professional and helpful. I didn't have a massage so I can't speak to that aspect. The tubs are kind of old fashioned and I found that quaint. Next time I will bring a blow up tub pillow with me. Having a robe made it easy to go into the far infrared sauna. There is a large bathroom that doubles as a dressing room. There's a hair dryer available at the front desk. Wonderful water. The hot water runs really hot 174 degrees Fahrenheit when we were there. Also watch out for the stream of water outside as it is also very hot. The whole ditch along the road was steaming on the wintry morning that we arrived. We chose the Violet room which had a lovely glow to it. I enjoyed our visit and we will return.

I am always picky with Spas and wanted to try someplace new as opposed to the other Spa I normally use which is overcrowded most days and not very peaceful. This spa was walking distance from where I was staying was able to walk-in and get an appointment for only .45 minutes later long enough to grab an espresso at Sips. Walking in spa had a wonderful feeling kind and happy staff, not pretentious like some spas can feel. The waiting area was comfortable clean, the hanging chairs made for a great experience love that floating feeling I guess & loved that it wasn’t overwhelming you could actually breathe here. Had a fabulous mani/pedi with Leyssa and a glass of bubbly. The polish was an actual quick dry Dazzle dry which I loved and still looks great. I will be back❤️
