Ratnapura (Sinhalese: රත්නපුර; Tamil: இரத்தினபுரி) ("City of Gems" in Sinhala and Tamil) is a major city in Sri Lanka. It is the capital city of Sabaragamuwa Province, as well as the Ratnapura District, and is a traditional centre for the Sri Lankan gem trade. It is located on the Kalu Ganga (Black River) in south-central Sri Lanka, some 101 km (63 mi) southeast of the country's capital, Colombo. Ratnapura is also spelled as Rathnapura.

This tour goes southeast via Avissawella through every shade and tone of rich green to yellow green of the rubber plantations, paddy fields and tea estates. Before reaching Ratnapura you will visit the Bopath Ella waterfalls with a height of approximately 100 feet or 30 meter. On to Ratnapura, City of Gems and see Adam’s Peak (in the distance) – a 2,243m mountain venerated by Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims. After lunch, visit one of the famous gem mines of Ratnapura. Gems such as the Blue, Star and Yellow Sapphires, Cat’s Eyes, Rubies, Alexandrites, Amethysts, Zircons, Topaz and Tourmalines are found here. There will be an opportunity to watch a gem cutter and polisher at work and also visit at a lapidary. The last stop will be at the Saman Devala, an important shrine for Budhists, is devoted to God Saman a Buddhist deity who is regarded the guardian of Ratnapura. .

I had come to Sri Lanka to attend my best friend's wedding for three days, when you're in another country and had just landed from Germany had just 5 days to figure if I can do my Solo backpacking around Sri Lanka. Well backpacking takes some research and fell short of time to figure things out. That's when I was researching and came across Ceylon Travel Dream that came to my help. I was on a limited budget and a list of places which I wanted to cover in Sri Lanka, these guys organized an itenary well with constant conversations over the phone he created three itenaries and was sharing them with me. I got to choose with the one I was satisfied with. They arranged really good accomodations every night. The traveling part was perfect I had got my a very good chauffeur-guide (English speaking) Mr.Aruna who was available 24*7 and abiding my requests to what exactly to finish off each day. I was given an own well maintained car where I was travelling around everywhere in Sri Lanka. I would definitely recommend these guys because they cut out the work for you and you can take or leave it. Our tour started with the pick up from our hotel at Galle fort. Roshan was so friendly and extremely informative. Had a wonderful day with new friends, enjoying the scenery and hiking the Rainforest. This should be in everyone's list when visiting Sri Lanka. Loved the added bonus of Tea factory visit. Guide Wigitha made the day amazing. Although no rain in the rainforest ,this day made the hike a bit less slippery, the flora, fauna and the waterfall -- all made a lovely day. One of our Dreams was to swim under the waterfall, and we got a chance to do it here. Transportation was comfortable and efficient, and the lunch was delicious. Would highly recommend this tour and also this tour company.

Based on my previous experinces with Taprobane Tours and Travels, I'd requested them to organise an excursion for an international delegation I was visiting Sri Lanka with. The delegation was the Anglican Interfaith Commission of the Anglican Communion. We were a group of twelve from twelve countries of the world. I had wanted the very best for them to experience Sri Lanka during a very short visit. Nishantha organised a fantastic excursion for us. The finale of the Tour was a fantastic cultural show featuring many dancing traditions and styles from various parts of Sri Lanka. The members of the delegation were very impressed with the tour and ask that I add thier appreciation to mine in writing this review. It is very likely that some of the delegates would return to Sri Lanka to go on a tour with Taprobane free from the constrains of a formal visit. Taprobane Tours and Travels is the best!

We leave Colombo by train and contact the owner before we leave from Colombo. the vehicle was there when we arriving to Nanuoya as the owner promise us. Driver is very friendly and help us lot and take us to get our launch and dinner in best places in Nuwara eliya. Nothing bad happens. Good service
