Only an hour away from Rawalpindi this place is certainly worth visiting. Getting there is little tricky it worth following google maps. If you have a 4wd, use the walk option as it will take you the shorter way.

Derawar Fort

Reviewed By Pkmalik - Lahore, Pakistan

A large square fort with 40 Bastian standing 100 ft high in desert is very attractive. The journey to desert is very adventurous on carpeted road, large fields of wheat crops on both sides of the road, camels, goats, cows and large patches of brown sand. This fort was constructed about 1000 years ago in defence point of view. Basic touristoc facilities like toilets, restaurant and guide need to be improved. No sign boards for information, no guide is available. In hot summer (April -september) better to visit early morning or afternoon. No arrangements for night stay. Road is safe for night travelling. Camping may be a good adventure.
