This small town is a unique, peaceful coastal paradise in Patagonia. It has pristine beaches (cold to swimm but just perfect to relax), traditional sheep ranch and incredible marine life including penguins, whales and sea lions, as well as hundreds of species of birds. The town, about 40 people inhabitants, lives today of tourism and seaweed production. I really think is a perfet spot for a romantic getaway, full of nature and tranquil ambience. Also paradise for birdwatchers.

Not worth it, I'm afraid. Too expensive to get to see just one of the glaciers, the Spegazzini one. (The Upsala glacier can only be seen from afar, as it's deemed too risky to approach). The journey was too long and quite uncomfortable (the ferry I took was the Quo Vadis). Too many people travelling. The ferry was 80% full in Covid times, which I found unsensible and irresponsible. We could not choose where to sit or change seats afterwards. The Spegazzini refuge is partly open. You can take a (rather short) walk in the woods, but the café/restaurant/toilet area is (still) closed and looks quite derelict. I've taken other tours in the area (Perito Moreno Glacier/ Canal Beagle/Full day at Chalten) and they were less expensive, better organised and far more enjoyable than this one.

We did a 12 day customized trip in 2018. Found this company through Zicasso, Kieran was great arranging it all and communication was easy. Our trip started in Buenos Aires where we did a cooking class at the Argentine Experience and took a tango lesson. Our dance instructors took us out to a milongo afterwards and we ended up staying out until 2am. It was great! We felt completely immersed in the culture. We then flew to Iguazu and toured the jungle, got blasted by the falls in a boat ride and saw all the incredible creatures that live there. Our last 5 days were spent hiking in Patagonia where we trekked the Perito Moreno Glacier, visited a ranch, and then drove to El Chalten for the final days. All of our transportation was provided, all internal flights booked by Kieran, and everything was just wonderful. To this day, it’s one of my favorite vacations!

Do you love Nature? Do you prefer cold season adventures? Puerto Madryn is the best place to visit! During autumn season, you'll be able to see arrive our outstanding visitor. Its scientific's name Eubalaena Australis, proclaimed as a nature patrimony for mankind by The UNESCO on 1999, and a national symbol that you find on our cash, the Ballena franca Austral. Believe me, you don't need to book a expensive ticket aboard on the sailboat. In the cooling season of june, you can see the whales on the coast, doing their mating ceremony. Thanks to the geographical position and the temperature of the coast, our gulf called "Golfo nuevo", provides a nice amount of food and a safe place to this magnificent specimen. Until december, the time when the whales leave the gulf with their whale calves. Such a fantastic experience that you'll enjoy alone, with friends, with your partner or why not? With Your family.
