Had visited previously and decided it deserved to be seen by more people than us. We put together a group visit and everyone had a wonderful time. Lovely personal service with great attention to detail. The museum was a step back in time to when this family was 'doing it tough'. The wines are of exceptional quality, the balsamic vinegar is so good one of the UK chefs buys boxes of it. If you are anywhere near here please park up (easy to find parking) and visit this lovely cellar. English also spoken.

Alex picked us up in the hotel in the agreed time. Then we went with his van up to Penedes area (about 25-30min ride). During that time he explained what we would do and got to know each other a little bit. Once there he provided the bikes and we followed a road (mainly downhill or even path). He would keep driving with the van but stoped every 5km and made sure we were ok and provided watter if necessary. You did not need to be in a good shape to do this journey. The views are incredible and while the ride you see some nice houses with Modernist influences. Then, he let’s you choose what to do (breakfast or castle visit). We decided to know a little bit more the area so we went to a close by Castle. As our group was formed by young members, after that visit he brought us to anothe path which was not as easy as the previous one (that I believes normaly is not done in regular visits), but very doable if you arr more a less in shape, and so we visited other sides of the area. After that he brought us to a very small (compared to others) and familiar winery. In there the last generation of the wine family (Josep) showed us around and explained us how wine and cava is prepared. Also, they do keep many old objects used in the past. Like an small museum. We did the wine and cava taste while speaking with Alex and Josep. At all times Alex was trying to make sure that we were enjoyig the tour. If you like to to know Penedes and its wine area while being outdors, I fully recommend this trip. Thank’s for the ride Alex.

The guides with Spanish Trails are so knowledgeable and friendly. They are able to take you on tours that you could never pull off on your own and that many other tour businesses don't offer. I would recommend Spanish Trails to all of my friends and wish I could relive the tour all over again.

Departure from our premises in the town of Cretas and arrival at the Horta de Sant Joan station. A section where you will be amazed at the vastness of the Ports of Beceite, the fields of vineyard and olive almond trees with their day laborers and the Benet rocks in the background. This route has a swimming pool in the heart of the Algars River, the river that connects Aragon with Catalonia. A section that we recommend when you go with very young children who may soon tire of riding a bicycle, a seat or a cart. Remember to bring good light for the tunnels !!!

The Via Verde by bicycle from Cretas to Xerta is a must do. The route is very beautiful with very diverse landscapes (from cycling throughout the mountains to a more flat route near a river). And everybody can join, because it is downhill. You will pass beautiful lakes or pooles to swim in. Because the route used to be an old railway you will see old railway stations and, this was our highlight; you will cycle through old railway tunnels, this was very exciting. You can arrange an mountainbike with all the equipement needed via Matarrana Ventura and they will bring you back to Cretas (which is the start point). They are a very friendly and nice organisation. We will definitely come back some day!
