Buzzing place at the center of Ajaccio. There is a market with local produce such as cheeses, salamis, handicrafts. Very well worth buying stuff here to take home. On one day there was a wonderful marching band performing here. Faces the marina. Surrounding the central monument statue are main roads radiating in all directions and plenty of shops and restaurants. The hop on hop off tourist bus starts here

Here Corsicans say that Napoleon's mother, Laetitia , had the first signs of suffering in that beautiful Cathedral before giving birth to her famous-to-be son. At some weddings, today, you can hear Corsican polyphonia( Corsican songs "a cappella"( voices only)..it's absolutely thrilling ! amazing!
