November 2, 2021 Almeta Stockton

Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

16th Arrondissement

With its ornate 19th century buildings, large avenues, prestigious schools, museums and various parks, the arrondissement has long been known as one of French high society's favorite places of residence. The 16th arrondissement hosts several large sporting venues, including: the Parc des Princes, which is the stadium where Paris Saint-Germain football club plays its home matches; Roland Garros Stadium, where the French Open tennis championships are held; and Stade Jean-Bouin, home to the Stade Français rugby union club. The Bois de Boulogne, the second-largest public park in Paris (behind only the Bois de Vincennes), is also located in this arrondissement.

My wife and I lived in the 16th for the last three months in 2018. We choose the 16th on a whim and loved it. We stayed in an apartment on the Seine with the Ave de Versailles as our backdrop. We found Le Petit Versailles Cafe to be one of our morning haunts for coffee with the best croissants and the occasional dinner. Ms. Coppla's Giallo Oro Restaurant next door served the best veal we had during our stay, and he is a hoot. When you order the veal you know it's being done because you hearing hammering coming from the kitchen . Cafe Le Mirabeau down the Ave. is another stop for coffee in the morning or for Happy Hours at the beginning of the evening. There are also two great outdoor markets to buy your dinner within walking distance, or just off the Metro. There is an African Chef who prepares exotic treats that must be tried if you are up for a tasty adventure. She is wonderful as she talks to you while cooking and serving. Given the opportunity she will point you out to others that you are "le Mericans" with humor, as she smokes her cigar. This is all being missed by me as I tell this.
