Things to do in Padstow, England: The Best Beaches

August 1, 2021 Giuseppe Pratt

Walking is a way of life in the picturesque Cornwall town of Padstow. The South West Coast Path—which, at 630 miles, is Britain’s longest footpath—stretches along the coast and, via ferry, across the River Carmel. The former fishing port is today a hub of fine wining and dining. Lose yourself in the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a fairyland of heirloom flowers, or go back to the future at the Eden Project, a horticultural wonderland housed inside dramatic biodomes.

Treyarnon Bay Beach

Reviewed By SteveP933 - Barnard Castle, United Kingdom

This little bay provided hours of entertainment and adrenaline-spiking fun, so much so that we had to go back. The star attraction is the "coasteering" area at the southern side of the bay where you can test your mettle to the max by jumping off the sides of the cliff into the deep channel below - I'm not too ashamed to admit that my 49 year old brain refused to launch me from the highest ledges when my 10 year leapt off without so much as second thought! They were to drag away from this particular source of entertainment, being encouraged to leave only by the rapidly receding tide and subsequent reduction in depth of landing zone water. There's a nearby sea cave that can be accessed at low tide for the explorer in you, and the beach itself provides lots of space to build castles, play beach sports or just sun yourself. Body boarding and swimming under the careful watch of the lifeguards adds more fun, and when you fancy a coffee, hot chocolate or bite to eat, there's an excellent van in the large car park.

Tregirls Beach

Reviewed By Dieselgirl37

Contrary to what others have said it does not take 20 mins to get to this beach lol so I've no idea where they're walking from. I have mobility issues and it is easy to get to once you know the correct way! It's known as Tregirls beach to locals and harbour cove to some but it's never been known as hawkers cove beach that's an entirely different beach walked to on the left at low tide. If you do walk to hawkers cove past the old lifeboat station go up the slipway in the cove turn right follow the path along the back of pilots cottages with the sloping gardens then thru the small car park turn left up the back of the bigger houses and at the end of the row you will find Rest a while tea room. Lezzilick tearoom has been closed every time we've been there so Rest a while is our regular jaunt now. Regards toilet facilities, we take a beach tent and a bucket with a lid for emergencies and empty it back at our campsite in the elsan point but there are toilets at Rest a while for customer use only. Not a major problem for us. Tregirls beach is our Mecca my favourite place in the whole world!

Constantine Bay Beach

We loved Constantine Beach so much that we spent most of our week long holiday here! The beach is beautiful, clean and spacious with stunning coastal views, golden sands, rock pools and great waves for surfers and body boarders alike. When we visited the beach was life-guarded until 6pm. There are two car parks - one is closer to the beach with a cafe, surf shop and toilets (though you will need some 20p coins). The other cark park is significantly larger and costs £5 for the day, though it is cheaper after 3/4pm. It is only a short walk from the first car park.
