Things to do in Oxford, England: The Best Bus Transportation

June 11, 2021 Frederic Celentano

In the "city of dreaming spires," academia takes center stage. Gaze out at Oxford's world-famous university from the top of Carfax Tower before heading into the city's pedestrian-friendly streets. Follow your nose to the Covered Market for the makings of a picnic to enjoy at Headington Hill Park. Mix the historic and modern with visits to the 12th-century village church of Iffley and trendy Cowley's ethnic shops and music venues.

Park and Ride

Oxford City has 5 Park & Ride car parks located around Oxford’s ring road, each with a bus service taking you straight to Oxford City Centre. The locations of the Park & Ride sites can be viewed on our website.

Best way to get into the city centre. We went from Pear Tree park and ride (300) and found parking very plentiful and easy, the ride to the centre short and the return journey convenient. There was some confusion with the parking machines, it seems that some of the machines do parking ticket only whilst a couple of the machines do parking and bus ticket. None as far as I could tell did just bus so if you’ve paid for parking, only pay the driver (they accept cards) for the bus journey. We saw someone paying the full £6.80 after having paid for parking at the first machines. You will need to know your registration number for the car parking ticket although you don’t need to display the ticket in the car.

The Airline

The airline is your 24/7/365 day and night airport coach service, taking you to Heathrow and Gatwick airports from Oxford. With more legroom, free WiFi and power sockets, the airline is the perfect way to start and finish your journey in comfort.

Reliable service always there for you since it runs 24 hours a day. Nice clean brand new coaches which are smooth and comfortable. Can sometimes work out quite pricey for a single Oxford-Heathrow ticket for such a quick journey, but I imagine this helps them maintain a 24 hour service with many buses quite empty
