Birdsville Races

Finally made it to the iconic outback races held in Birdsville every year. A great adventure, the drive in the outback and meeting lots of people from all over the country. Lots to see and if you take your time the small towns along the route have their own parties so you can break up the trip. Birdsville is a small town approximately 1400km West of Brisbane, Queensland.

Lake Moondarra

Such a peaceful and beautiful river. It is great to spend a few hours near the lake for tranquility and calmness. The river water is clean. There is no traffic around this place, but there is a possibility to do cycling. If you want to escape from the city noise, this is a paradise to escape for quietness.

This is our second trip on Spirit of the Outback, and we are planning our third trip already! We absolutely love this first class sleeper train experience, the cabins are very comfortable, staff excellent, food outstanding and every changing scenery is unique. Please always continue the cabin sleeper service, we are so disappointed that other trains have discontinued their sleeper services. Spirit of the Outback is great!!
