During our recent travels to Belize, we were fortunate to discover Up Close Belize through the hotel we stayed at on our first night. We had a positively wonderful time on the Cave Tubing, Zipline, and Altun Ha Temple tour with our guide, Joel. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the areas we traveled to as part of the tour as well as the many other Belize-related questions we asked him. He was a delight to spend the day with and learn from. Because we had such a positive experience with Joel, we booked our snorkeling trip (to Shark Ray Alley and Hol Chan on Ambergris Caye) as well as the Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM Cave) with Up Close Belize also. Our guide for the ATM Cave, Auner) was also fantastic. Overall, we were very pleased with the quality of the tours, tour guides, and communication with the company. We would highly recommend exploring Belize with the exceptional guides of Up Close Belize!

Swimming with the sharks is one of the best travel experiences I have ever had on this planet. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide to take us to Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley than JC! JC is the MAN. His smile and joyful presence will brighten your entire trip in Belize!! I love how he identified every creature as he was guiding us through the snorkeling tour. It was amazing to be in the home of nurse sharks, turtles, and fishes. He was so nice and offered to take plenty of videos and photos of us while we were in the water. His patience made the tour even more peaceful and enjoyable. Since we were on our own time for the private tour, JC let us stay in the water for much longer than the other snorkeling groups who were there. He does an excellent, extraordinary job and is humble because he genuinely cares about his guests. I love how much appreciation he showed for us. We even stayed around for at least an extra hour because he truly loves what he does, and he happily took his time to thoroughly answer every question we had about scuba diving, the best local restaurants in town, what to do with our time in Belize, literally any and every thing. It means everything to me when I have the pleasure and honor of supporting the business of someone who goes above and beyond the basic duties as a tour guide and entertains my curious inquiries. Surely, our time together wasn’t nearly long enough! When I return to Belize, he is the first person I will make sure to call to explore more of the country with.

I would highly recommend for tours or transfers. My husband and I were lucky enough to have Francisco "Cisco" as our guide for the transfers and the cave tubing. He is extremely knowledgeable about the trees, plant, birds, etc. We learned a lot from him. When we transferred to Placencia, our lodging was hard to find, but Cisco stayed with us until we found the place and made sure we were able to get into the room before leaving! He even carried our bag with all our snorkel gear in it!!. He was amazing! Rick & Donna H

This was such a great tour! They picked us up from the hotel promptly. The drive felt so short to the site because there was lot to see on the way. Our guide was great, he gave us alot of information and led us safetly up the structures. Sometimes slowly because they're definitely tall! The tour in total was roughly 3 hours which gave us alot of time in the day to go see other parts of Belize.

Our tour guide Paul notified us in advance to his arrival. Our Airbnb address was incorrect but he was still able to locate our lodging . Our guide Paul was extremely personable, relatable, knowledgeable about historical and contemporary facts about Belize and provided us with exemplary service and an unforgettable experience. During the drive he pointed out local landmarks, historical sites, answered our endless assortment of questions and brought us up to speed on contemporary matters pertaining to the country. When we arrived at Xuantunich Paul took us to each of structure offering insight as to its significance and purpose. He also assisted us with taking photos and answering any questions that we had on the archaeological site. Cave tubing was extremely fun and Paul ensured that we were safe, having a good time as well as gave us a history lesson on caves in Belize and how they related to the ancient Mayan civilization. After tubing my sister and I enjoyed a beverage we purchased from a local vendor who placed rum, coconut milk, fresh juice and melon into a half pineapple. Paul was kind enough to let us stop at a grocery store within close proximity to our AirBnb. He also provided us with restaurant recommendations and familiarized us with the general area that we stayed in. Private Belize Adventure provided an excellent tour and an overall amazing experience. Please request Paul as he will certainly show you a great time along with educating you.
