Things to do in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit: The Best Sightseeing Tours

December 14, 2021 Mollie Coke

In Nuevo Vallarta, you can lounge on the golden-sand beaches of Banderas Bay… or take an ATV tour through the nearby Sierra Madre jungle. A local water park has great twisting slides and sea lion shows… or you could treat the kids to a memorable swim with dolphins. (It'll make for a great "What I did over summer vacation" report.)

We had the best time on our private snorkeling tour! While we wished we'd seen more fish, we really enjoyed the sightseeing along the coastline. Fernando and his son were exceptional hosts, and made the day great for our entire family! Even better, we saved a boatload of money (no pun intended) by going with La Vida Bella Boat Tours vs one from Vallarta Adventures! It literally cost us about half, and I can't imagine we'd have had any better experience with theirs. But no doubt, the best part of all was Fernando Jr.'s guacamole! Holy schmoley! It was the best chips and guac of our lives. We highly recommend them!

This trip is highly recommended. My wife and I were staying in Sayulita and met with the tour operators and driver right off the town square across from Coco Banana. The van ride to the marina was about 20 minutes. The boat/catamaran was awesome! Came with a lower and upper deck, two water slides from the top deck, a couple hammocks and comfy seating all around. The service and crew were top notch. Everyone was polite, funny and welcoming. They started off serving us fruit, pastries and whatever you wanted to drink for breakfast (alcohol or nonalcoholic) and provided nonstop fun and service the whole way to the islands. Once you get to the islands, you are transported in a smaller boat to an area where it is safe to swim to the islands themselves where you you can get some amazing pictures and see sights not many will ever experience. The ride back is just as fun, if not more so. You continue with as many drinks as you'd like. We had fajitas for lunch, which were delicious, and we did a bit of fishing off the back on the way home. Overall 6 outta 5 rating. Love these folks and will definitely be back for more tours

The overall trip was great. The snorkeling wasn’t amazing and the water was freezing but still okay after that the trip to the island and the ride home with great crew entertainment made this trip 5 star. The crews service and hospitality was on point, the photographers did awesome and the rock show on the way back to the port was INSANE!!! want to mention David, he basically lead the entire day and all the crew members and Henry the captain!!

I'm torn about writing this review, which is why it's taken me two weeks to do so. On the one hand, the value is great for a full day's worth of activities including snorkeling, kayaking/paddle boarding, taking a smaller boat to the beach, and in my case, I paid extra for the hidden beach side trip. Lunch was also decent. Here's the part where I had to take two stars off. My parents and I were the only Chinese family onboard. When we first met JC, he asked us where we were from and we said Los Angeles, California (USA). He persisted until we revealed our ethnicity. He went on to talk about Chinese brand vehicles in Cuba which we knew nothing about. During the "entertainment" portion of the trip, he proceeded to call us out and did some kung fu moves to simulated "Oriental Music" to draw a few laughs. As if that wasn't bad enough, when I walked by, he said, "There goes Jackie Chan." We look nothing alike. My family suffered the humiliation of being reduced to a caricature and stereotypes. We became the brunt of his jokes. I was traumatized from the experience because in my own country, we too suffer from being seen as the "other" and made fun of. Not to mention the very recent shootings in Atlanta. Racism has no place in a boat tour just like it has no place in society.

I went to San Sebastian. There were 3 of us on the tour, plus the guide and driver. They were very nice and knowledgeable. The town is up in the mountains. There really isn't much there but a small town with cobble stone street and a square. Not much shopping. We had a nice lunch. The nicest thing was seeing the mountain life on the way and stopping at a bakery, tequila maker and a coffee maker. It was very comfortable and a nice day trip to see some different scenery. The tour was run well.
