Carapan is a Mexican folk art gallery founded in 1950. Since then, it specializes in museum quality folk art pieces for collectors and enthusiasts. It is located at the core of downtown hotel zone in Monterrey, at a 10 minute drive from San Pedro and only a few blocks away from the Cathedral; the Macro Plaza and the Marco museum of contemporary art. A visit to Carapan is a travel trough Mexico´s most important folk art production centers. During your visit you will find a cared selection of textiles, pottery, silver jewelry, wood carvings and more. The gallery is hosted at an old colonial house with a beautiful central patio and 5 surrounding halls. The entrance is free and English, Spanish and French is spoken. Even at COVID-19 times, you can still enjoy art. Even I'm not a big fan of contemporary art, I really appreciate to have open places for culture at very reasonable prices.

There is a beautiful group of peacocks and different birds outside, just before you start the visit, then you have a science museum, perfect for children 3-14, and also an IMAX theater, with very interesting documentaries.
