Carapan

Carapan is a Mexican folk art gallery founded in 1950. Since then, it specializes in museum quality folk art pieces for collectors and enthusiasts. If you are looking for a special gift or a piece of art with a fine Mexican taste, this is the right place to visit. It is located at the core of downtown hotel zone in Monterrey, at a 10 minute drive from San Pedro and only a few blocks away from the Cathedral; the Macro Plaza and the Marco museum of contemporary art. A visit to Carapan is a travel trough Mexico´s most important folk art production centers. During your visit you will find a cared selection of textiles, pottery, silver jewelry, wood carvings and more. The gallery is hosted at an old colonial house with a beautiful central patio and 5 surrounding halls. The entrance is free and English, Spanish and French is spoken. Even at COVID-19 times, you can still enjoy art. Even I'm not a big fan of contemporary art, I really appreciate to have open places for culture at very reasonable prices.

There is a beautiful group of peacocks and different birds outside, just before you start the visit, then you have a science museum, perfect for children 3-14, and also an IMAX theater, with very interesting documentaries.
