This small shop is located close to the ferry in Rawene and opposite the BoatShed cafe. It is run by the couple who run the Labyrinth Woodworks and Puzzle Museum in Omapere. We understand that the plan is to focus on the Rawene shop in due course. The shop is run variously by the puzzle collector or his wife. We visited on 2 occasions and met both. It was an excellent experience on both occasions. When the husband was there he gave us a couple of puzzles to try. They defeated me though my wife did well, and he made them look easy! As well as a wide range of puzzles to try there is a small display or puzzles and a large selection of puzzles and games to purchase. Very well worth a visit.

We toured this large collection on a quiet day and I think many days are quiet. The collection includes vehicles, office machines, sewing machines, tractors, tools, and many more items.

Waipu Museum

Waipu Museum documents the migration of 1,000 Highlanders from Scotland to Nova Scotia Canada, then to Australia and New Zealand via South Africa over a 30 year period. Its collections listed with UNESCO are interpreted in an award winning exhibition, a must see for history buffs. The Battle of Culloden and the Industrial Revolution contributed to the Scottish diaspora.

What a very interesting history Waipu has! Obviously lots of good work has been done in research and collecting items. The who.e village profits from this from the Scottish Gaelic street names, park and some restaurants. The museum appears to accurately portray the travels of their particular Founding Fathers!
