Things to do in North Holland Province, The Netherlands: The Best Bars & Clubs

January 10, 2022 Augustus Redeker

Mostly jutting northward from its largest city of Amsterdam and its capital of Haarlem, the Noord-Holland region has much more to offer beyond those two wonderful cities. At Muiden is the magnificent Muiderslot Castle, as if it stepped out of a fairy tale. Showing more wear but no less interesting is Brederode Castle at Santpoort. At Zaanstad is Zaanse Schans, one of Holland’s top tourist destinations and a family-friendly open air museum of windmills, traditional buildings, crafts and shops.

Spent the night in here on Sat 10 Nov and had such a giggle! Great atmosphere with everyone singing and supporting whoever was on the mike. Reasonably priced drinks! Met some lovely people from Scotland, Sweden and the guy from Cuba - you have the voice of an angel. The evening flew past. Warning though make a reservation if you want a guaranteed slot at the weekend. And just wish the bar was twice as big! Oh and a pretty good selection of songs, only a few of our selections were not available - get some Muse on the system guys!!!! A great night was had by all.

Melkweg

Melkweg stands for pop culture in the most broad of senses. Each year, hundreds of concerts, club nights, films and music films, theatre performances, expositions and multidisciplinary events together attract more than 400,000 visitors. The venue is located in the only surviving factory building on the Amsterdam canal ring, a former sugar and, later, milk factory. This historical building houses two concert halls, a cinema, a theatre, and an exposition space, which each can be used separately or combined together. In the Melkweg, established names can be seen alongside new talent and emerging styles get the chance to reach a broader audience. The diversity of its programming and visitors, together with its different spaces and special location, have for years made the Melkweg a unique place.

Been to a couple of concerts here in the last year or so, Tarrus Riley & more recently Bad Manners. One of the concerts was in the bigger hall which must have had the highest stage I have ever seen which makes the rush to get to the front not really that important as no matter where we stood we had a great view. Bad Manners was in the smaller hall which was really intimate and had a balcony which provided an excellent view. There were plenty of lockers around to store anything you needed to and entrance was very straight forward. The Melkweg is in a great location right next to bars, restaurants etc.
