Things to do in New Orleans, Louisiana (LA): The Best Shopping

July 26, 2021 Margarita Chappel

Laissez les bons temps rouler! In New Orleans the good times are perpetually rolling down Bourbon Street, which, thanks to the city’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, has quite a party animal reputation. Once you’ve soaked up the scenery of the historic French Quarter, tour the elegant Garden District and meet the colorful characters of Frenchmen Street. Experience the city's supernatural vibe at the Voodoo Museum or by taking a guided ghost or vampire tour through taverns, alleyways, and cemeteries.

Eight One Eight Contemporary Photography

Artist owned and run by local married artist duo Cecelia and Jose Fernandes Contemporary Art Gallery focused on the original documentary photography of Jose Fernandes and compositions by C+J (Cecelia + Jose ) and Celilrie (Cecelia). Through the use of photographic diptychs and other compositions, C+J expands on the descriptive nature of documentary photography, creating lyrical narratives as constructed mirror images of societal issues. The work challenges belief systems, notions of systemic control, ideas of societal stratification and questions Western episteme in an artistic response to the political and societal disequilibrium that is at the the core of the contemporary struggle between individual, community and institution.

504 Craft Beer Reserve

Reviewed By nataniasc

I came here to get a range of local beers to take back home as gifts. Patrick assisted me and I left with 12 assorted cans and bottles that encompassed the best of local Nola breweries! All while tasting different selections. I had no intention of staying for a drink, but that Pinot black currant sour was worth a pint and a chair. Good company, great staff, and wonderful atmosphere! If I could have fit the staff in a bottle, I would have brought them back to the Northeast with me! Definitely worth a visit while you're in New Orleans! Don't skip out on this opportunity. It will change your expectations on what your local beer vendor and favorite bar could be if they upped their game to match what 504 has perfected!

Have been in twice in the past year, once to get an awesome bike and more recently for camping gear. Although their selection is limited and prices on higher end, the quality of what's on display is great, and I love both my previous purchases. I've been into the bike repair shop several times since, they were always willing to help even with the small issues. For our camping excursion, their employee Zack was very informative and patient, helping us narrow down precisely what we needed and get fitted. If you're looking for gear that will last you through your next adventures, their knowledgeable and friendly staff will hook you up!
