Things to do in New Orleans, Louisiana (LA): The Best Outdoor Activities

April 19, 2022 Merry Kessler

Laissez les bons temps rouler! In New Orleans the good times are perpetually rolling down Bourbon Street, which, thanks to the city’s annual Mardi Gras celebration, has quite a party animal reputation. Once you’ve soaked up the scenery of the historic French Quarter, tour the elegant Garden District and meet the colorful characters of Frenchmen Street. Experience the city's supernatural vibe at the Voodoo Museum or by taking a guided ghost or vampire tour through taverns, alleyways, and cemeteries.

Confederacy of Cruisers Bike Tours

Ride with us through the New Orleans neighborhoods we live in with the cities original and oldest bike tour company. It’s been over 11 years of great tours and great customers, making us feel like the luckiest folks every day at work. Tours that we have developed over the years include the Creole tour (our culture and history ride), the culinary bike ride that eats its way through 4 local restaurants, the history of drinking tour (which is exactly what it sounds like) and our Ninth Ward Tour that shares the story of the rebuilding and why it was so important to us. The rides are relaxed, with plenty of time to ask questions, and a stop along the way at a neighborhood bar on our Creole tour where you can find out all you want about local life while drinking a delicious Bloody Mary, if you like (water or nothing are also fine choices). All tours have one speed, slow. Call or email us, we don't use computer booking...old fashioned is how we roll on wheels and in the shop.

Ninth Ward Rebirth Bike Tours

Join us for a bike ride through the little seen parts of New Orleans and experience the long history and deep rooted culture of a historical neighborhood most don't get to see. See not only the scope of the damage from Hurricane Katrina, but the uplifting rebuilding since; and more importantly, hear stories of why the neighborhood needed to survive even when the city leaders weren't convinced. We'll visit the levee, the Mississippi river, learn about the musical culture, and meet Ronald Lewis, local historian and curator of the House of Dance and Feathers. Along with a stop for local poboy to keep you rolling, definitely an unforgettable day.
